Some dealers are so bad. So far I thought my current one that did the TSB was good. Now my dad went there the other day for an oil change. Over 3 hours because when he called a few days before "they don't schedule those anymore, walk in only". Like WTF? It just creates a mess for all customers waiting when they pull crap like that.

Don't even get me started on the one Toyota dealer around here. Forgot to put enough oil in my engine, They were lucky I noticed instantly and came back. Other one is fair on prices but recomends services like alignments and top end engine cleans based on millage outside of even the toyota maintenance schedule

Do the service yourself and skip the free oil change. They inevitably will mess something up.
Now why is it that we've had my wife's GCs done at the dealer for years, and I've had my JT done and there's never been any issues. Sometimes they even wash it up nice. The closer dealer even actually sets the tire pressure correctly.
My wife's Jeeps, every one of them, goes back to the dealer for regular service. I do check things over now and then, but zero issues for over 20 years.

I don't uninstall my Tazer either. The service advisor boss was the first guy who told me about the Tazer years ago. Don't know how it could void warranty. Burden of proof is on the dealership.
The local dealer actually sells and installs that sort of thing. I asked about resetting for different tires and they said they'd sell me the tool and I could do it all myself and skip the service fees.

Bring 'em to Dewey in Ankeny. No issues. Been using their service department for years. They even have gone above and beyond a couple of times.

I just did one. Oil change, tire rotation, checked underside and re-torqued some bolts. Removed the Tazer and Pedal Commander. Took the wifes JK in a few years back and they would not warranty the 100k drive-train until I took off the Cold Air Intake I installed. Brought back all the factory part and they put it back in and continued the warranty. So you can take your chances or not! Given its a new truck, they probably download metrics every chance they get.
Or you can do it yourself!
My dealership treats me really good. Made the appt. and as soon as I rolled up, the paperwork was done and they rolled it back to the bay. 50 mins later all done.

I have the Mopar lift (they installed), 4.56 gears installed by Rebel Offroad, and 35's. They dont look twice at that stuff. Only time this matters is if you have a warranty repair for something associated with those parts.

Wish I was back in Iowa. Jeep dealerships in Albuquerque suck. All bought out by Larry H. Miller. Whether they are Jeep, Toyota, etc. every LHM dealership gives horrible service. Don't have the patience right now to list everything but if you're interested PM me. Every out of state dealership experience I've had has been great, including the one in Phoenix I bought my JT at.

I had just thought the Tazer might block software upgrades that the dealership might do to the vehicle when its in for service

I took my Tazer off when I got my steering box replaced, 30 seconds of fumbling. Took 90 seconds to unplug the damned cables from the park ports underneath, after they updated the firmware. I take it out because it's easy to do so, and why have a question if you don't have to?

I am glad you have had good dealer experiences, unfortunately I cannot say the same for mine. Not just Jeep, but Toyota, Chevrolet and Acura as well. In my experiences customer service is non existent, they couldn't care less about warranty work, or pay work for that matter. I have had to pay diagnostic fees when the problem was obvious and I told them what it was, axle seal leak, apparently you have to pay the diagnostic fee with Jeep for the power train warranty. Frequently asked to drop the vehicle off at 8:00am only to call at 4:00 to check on it and have them say they haven't got to it yet, every time I can also always count of them dragging their boots over the sills of my cars scuffing the paint and scraping the kick panels, or parking it so close to another vehicle in the lot that it gets dings, lug nuts over torqued, or cross threaded from putting them on with an impact.
No thanks, there is a chance I might get good trouble free service but the chances of getting bad service is much higher IMO based on experience.

Its worth it to me to spend a few minutes to R&R the Tazer before a visit than to potentially argue warranty issues with the dealer ( or to worry about it) Besides, it gives me a reason to update the firmware on the Tazer.

I ended up bringing it to the dealer. I also did not remove the Tazer or Pedal Commander. They didn’t say anything.
That’s been my experience as well.

My relationship with my dealer has been “spotty”, to put it charitably. But the Service Manager that was causing all the pain and misery was fired and things appear to be back to normal.

I brought in my JL for its first free Jeep Wave oil change, Tazer and all, and they didn’t care. I was in-and-out in 40 minutes.

Never take my Tazer out. Got the Steering TSB done with it. But, I have a great dealer.

I do not understand the aversion to going to the dealer for free oil changes and tire rotations.

I figure even a newbie tech will do more oil changes in a week than I will do in ten years. So long as you don't get a fellow on his first day, should be good to go.

You don't want to go there........... it matches the "why" of a couple of other hot topics.
