Why does Jeep need help with sales? They already can't produce enough.

It would be cool if they set up a driveable obstacle course and make something like your favorite off road shop with tons of expensive toys to ogle. The REI flagship store in Denver comes to mind.
That’s a great REI. I used to make a point of going to that one when I lived in CO

Land Rover quit putting those mini off-road courses at their dealerships because it freaked out more customers than made them want to buy one.

that actually exists at my dealer now, it's kinda cool but there is a part JT's can not go on without a lift as it's too high of an angle up and down. Was built in the before time of JT's.

I've asked, the new Jeep only store across the street will not get it's own separate/new one though
:(

Chatting with them, the word is Stellatis see's Jeep as it's core brand and what it wants to own and push in the USA. Gives the impression that Chrysler/Dodge/Ram in the current branding may, MAY, in years come be gone/sold.
Yeah, I’ve seen a lot of articles that say Jeep and Ram were the only brands that had value.

Sergio had a great idea when he was going to make Chrysler a luxury brand and Dodge the performance brand, but it never came to fruition.

If they trim C/D offering to enthusiast level vehicles (no minivans, boring sedans, etc) they have a shot of keeping C/D. If you look at Stellantis' offerings in the US, it's a lot of enthusiast brands. Maserati, Alfa, Fiat (tin-can runabouts are enthusiastic; look at Mini).

”Isolating” and highlighting a brand is typically a brand management strategy to increase share value (stock price). The thinking then is that the market is not rewarding Stellantis for the true value of the Jeep brand/franchise, so let’s make it easier for people to see how valuable it really is, and what we could get if we wanted to sell it or spin it off. It’s less of an exercise to boost sales, more one of getting credit for the franchise they already have.

VW is very good example with Porsche. VW is positioning Porsche for a (partial) spinoff through IPO later this year. I read that Porsche alone could end up being be valued at 80% or so of VW’s TOTAL market value today. Every auto manufacturer has to be thinking of similar strategies to raise capital for the shift to electrification.

They need to made a small SUV using the wrangler 2 door running gear but without the expense or cost. ALA jeep cherokee/XJ type of vehicle with a fixed top but more rugged.

The renegade is a FWD failure since introduction. Otherwise they have 2 models to put in these dealership showrooms....They need to expand the brand down not up.

When Land Rover began their "Land Rover Centers" in the US with gear shops, incline tracks and obstacle courses, their sales took off. Love to see that here.

Can you imagine the increase in sales when (follow Harley Davidson’s angle here)
loads of extra merch, swag ect
lots of accessory product on display, not just in the pages of a book or on the web site.
people want to feel, think try to be special or simply different if not more interesting than they would otherwise be. have an experience they associate with the store visit, purchase. That’s how you build even more brand equity!
That’s why Jeep- exists the way it does. gotta be something here… I mean if I was completely wrong everyone would drive a basic white bucket, no frills and about exciting as the lid over a toilet seat.

Here in Fort Collins, Colorado, my local jeep dealer now has a stand alone shop. It was in the works for over 5 years but got done recently.

The renegade sells in decent numbers in the US, (see attached chart), peaking at over 100,000 units. Naturally as a design ages interest in it will wain as newer models are introduced from competing brands. The renegade is already getting a second generation, and it’s been seen testing in Europe and Brazil. Also the renegade only offers FWD on the base Sport trim, all the others get 4X4/4WD. The renegade brought a lot of people into the brand that otherwise would’ve shopped somewhere else.

Jeep dealership in Mason, MI has one that opens every year during the Toledo Jeep fest.
Hummer used to have an off-road obstacle to showcase the ability of the H3.
Our Jeep dealership has the display for the Grand Wagoneer, but no vehicle parked underneath.

One other thing about ordering on-line for the best deal...Dealerships really treat you better for service if you bought from their dealership. Only in the cases where someone bought a car where they used to live then moved far away from the original dealership does a dealership do the little extras so that they can keep you as a service customer. Service is where dealerships make the most money, not sales.

We used to have a retired Ford engineer in the local Mustang club. He worked at Ford in Detroit for decades and really knew the car industry. About seven years ago he was telling me he expected someone to buy Chrysler for the Jeep and RAM brands and shoot the Dodge and Chrysler brands in the head. He knew the numbers and he said Chrysler doesn't sell nearly enough Dodge or Chrysler vehicles to make it worthwhile. (Luxury brands like Benz and BMW don't sell all that many cars in the US either, but they have a large global presence and they make a LOT more money per vehicle.) Apparently, the "new" Dart was the last hurrah for Dodge and that was a miserable failure.

Just a few weeks after that discussion, a Chinese company was trying to buy Chrysler. No kidding, their plan was to keep Jeep and RAM and shoot Dodge and Chrysler brands in the head.

So, yeah. This could happen at any moment.
