Definitive No Poke Wheels Thread

I’m hoping we can gather a list of wheels that will not poke out inour JTs and are wider than stock wheels. I have just a few options to start with but am hoping others can add to it. I can continue to update this original post with the list of wheels. That way anyone wondering what wheels will not poke, they can just look at the first post on this thread. If you have any on of these wheels, post pics with wheel info. That way people can window shop here.

It really just comes down to the wheel offset, which is the distance between the center of the wheel/tread relative to the lug mounting pad. The higher the offset value, the more the wheel/tire "tucks in" underneath the fenders.

Generally speaking, any wheel with a +12 or higher value offset will not stick out as badly. Those with less than 0 offset; or negative offset values will stick out.

KMC makes some 17x8.5 wheels with +18 offset they should be pretty close to the be AEV wheels at +25
Edit, are the Mopar wheels you listed +12?

Maybe this can be moved to that forum. I’m basing the poke off the wider axles. If you have the skinnier axles you have a little more wiggle room.

When I had a 2015 4Runner I used the 4Runner forum a lot. They had a bunch of threads that listed options for things. For example, front and rear bumpers. You see everything available on one thread. So I could just go to the 5th gen 4Runner bumper thread and see every bumper that will fit my 4Runner. Of course for the Gladiator, there are too many bumpers to list. But for things like this I thought it would be useful.

Seems every time someone asks a well thought out question there are others who go out of their way to make it difficult to accomplish, especially if it doesn't fit their agenda.

Both the above photo, and the avatar photo were taken with the Terraflex 1 1/2" front spacer and a Daystar 3/4" rear spacer. I had planned the wheel and tire size combo around the specs for the AEV 2 1/2" Dual Sport suspension, which I later added. AEV claims you need about 1/4" more clearance between the frame and wheels than you have with stock wheels. Naturally they recommend their own wheels. As I wanted minimal poke and to stick with the 18" wheel size, I did my research and came up with what you see. The tires are 285/70R18 Ridge Grapplers, which are very close to 34". Yes, I could have gone 35s, but how much do I need the extra 15 pounds per tire? 35s also cost more, and some are only as much as a half inch bigger than 34s!

Last of all, no rubbing.

I've been mulling new wheels for the Mojave (2" AEV).
I found something I liked so much that I Photoshopped them on my JT, only to discover that the bronze aren't available in the 17 +12 offset, which I've pretty much decided would be ideal for the 35/12.5 K02s.
