Can you hear the 'chirps' in the videos posted? It has to be something wrong because mine 2021 doesn't chirp.
Yes. I can hear it. Mine doesn't do that. Can you hear the 'chirps' in the videos posted?
PLEASE DO!!The guy in the RAM video I posted might be onto something, he stated the dealer changed the throttle control valve and that took care of the issue. This may explain why sometimes it happens and why it happens while cruising along when the valve is not working at 100%.
I have an appointment for this Saturday at the dealer to have it checked. Will report back with their findings...
Went to the dealership and got the mechanic that works on diesels to ride with me for 15 minutes around the lot, I drove and I also let him drive for a bit. He tells me that the engine sounds normal, that what I am hearing are the high pressure electronic fuel injectors, their sound varies depending on the fuel needed and pressure going up or down, etc.PLEASE DO!!
well at least we know. I’ve been concerned how most w ecodiesels don’t have this noise. Well truth be told they’re probably just not hearing it and considering it normal diesel sound.Went to the dealership and got the mechanic that works on diesels to ride with me for 15 minutes around the lot, I drive and I also let him drive for a bit. He tells me that the engine sounds normal, that what I am hearing are the high pressure electronic fuel injectors, their sound varies depending on the fuel needed etc. They ran a scan tool and got no codes, he tells me that it there were something going on with the throttle control valve or the fuel injectors the scan tool would immediately receive a code. He tells me these 3rd gen ecodiesels are pretty solid compared to previous generations. He says that I can leave the car and if I am still worried they would take a look at it Monday morning and get back to me if they find anything. I leave the car and go to the sales area, look for the sales man that sold me my vehicle a couple of months ago and tell him I am looking to upgrade. They have a Willy’s and a Rubicon fully loaded on the lot, brand new, both ecodiesel. I test ride them and they sound exactly like my truck, chirping on low rpms. Went back to service and drove my truck back home. I will leave this behind me now because I believe this sound is normal, I purchased an extended warranty and will update the thread if anything else happens.
Last thought on this… what’s the thought on IF this is normal and not we can’t change it, can we insulate it somehow to dampen the chirp??Went to the dealership and got the mechanic that works on diesels to ride with me for 15 minutes around the lot, I drive and I also let him drive for a bit. This is a plausible alternative. I do notice that when I close the AC vents the sound is less noticeable.Last thought on this… what’s the thought on IF this is normal and not we can’t change it, can we insulate it somehow to dampen the chirp??
Mine was really loud. I was 5-7ft from the truck and thought the crickets sound was coming from neighbor's house. Thankfully, it happened just on that one drive, couldn't replicate again. Suspected a stuck injector.I just skimmed the thread so take my comment with a grain of salt but I hear what could be interpreted as a cricket sound faintly with the AEV snorkel and AEM intake and tubes on my rig.
I bought a Mini Cooper S new from the dealership back in 2011 and it sounded like crickets. It was turbo sound. I don't know the mechanics of it, but they had me drive another new one off the lot and it sounded the same. Was like that till I sold it at 36k miles. For that reason I completely dismissed the sound with the EcoD. I'm at 40k miles with tuning.
I don't know for sure what I'm hearing is the same as others in the thread.
