Just ordered a 2022 JTRD. Trading in the 2015 JKU. Been doing a lot of research on what lifts will be best with the extra weight of the diesel and I’ve narrowed it down to these two. Haven’t seen too many reviews out there as the AEV diesel kit seems pretty new. Im interested in hearing reviews from both kits. I understand with the Clayton you’ll need to add a spacer up front to level out. Do the Clayton springs seem too soft with the diesel? Are people happy with the diesel AEV springs? What shocks are people happy with? Appreciate all the help!

You don't need a spacer to level-- I have a 2021 JTRD and the 2.5" Clayton Offroad Overland plus kit with upgraded Fox shocks. They don't have their diesel springs out for me yet, but they do for the JLs... I used the 3.5" springs up front for the added weight of diesel and rake. Still have a bit (less than an inch) but it is not noticeable to the naked eye. Also running both a Fox adj steering stabilzer and AEV correction brackets up front. Good luck getting the AEV diesel kit right now... I have had AEV kits on non-diesel JKs and they are solid, but IMHO, they don't get even close to the ride both on and offroad of the Clayton Offroad kits. I have the plus which has both upgraded upper and lower control arms-- just a heads up, the upper control arms are "side specific"... learned that lesson the hard way! PM if I can help anymore. They are both great kits (esp on the road for a daily driver).

Don’t know about the Clayton but I’ve been very happy with the AEV kit on my diesel. Always a solid company with quality parts. Have a .75” spacer up front to help with the rake.

Thanks for the information!! I’ve noticed most diesels are running that 3.5 front while having the 2.5 in the back. I was curious if it affects ride quality at all having a spring up front that is compressed more than it should be. One of the reasons I was leaning AEV was for the diesel specific springs. Right when I think I made up my mind on what to order I read something that swings me just enough the other direction haha.

Thanks for the reply! Was wondering how long it took you to get your kit after ordering? How is ride quality compared to stock? Did you keep the bilstein 5100 or swap out for something different? Thanks again!

I took delivery of the Jeep it in November and the shop happened to have one in stock. I got lucky.

To me, the ride quality was a drastic improvement - I was worried about bottoming out going over speed bumps when it was stock.

Kept the 5100s. I have 5100s on my LJ and always liked them. We will see if I end up swapping them out later.

being an inch higher-- it compresses less, not more... Clayton will have their diesel-specific springs out sometime mid-March...
