Is this a one-way valve?

Has anyone relocated it higher than under the bed floor? Is that a necessity for water crossing?

Any failures; water in the differential, etc?

The breather ends are not one-way valves. They need to let air both in and out to equalize the internal pressure with atmosphere.

I extended my front diff breather up into the engine compartment only because I already had the tubing and connector, and it is super easy to do. I haven't done the rear yet because this is my daily driver and won't see any water crossings. Now, if you are regularly doing water crossings, extending the breathers is a good idea. On my JKR, I extended the rear breather to up behind the tail light.

I like the idea locating and lengthening. Good Thread.

Thanks for good replies, guys.

The trails down here have frequent water crossings, and they have frequent invisible ruts.
I was originally gonna go with a 2½" lift but for the sake of a little more water clearance went with a 3½". While doing the rear I was kinda surprised to see how low the rear vent terminated.

They look to be easily remedied with some ¼ or 3/16” vacuum hose, a barb coupling and some zip ties.

Off Roading 101. Relocating the vents higher so that water can't get in. It's one of the first things to do. And it's cheap to do. Been times after Rausch Creek. I had to drain my diffs. Found water in the front diff.

I assumed because it was so easy the factory would have them higher.
Makes me wonder if the max immersion depth rating from the factory is the height they install the vent terminals.
