Disappointed guys.

I bought this overpriced piece of aluminum from American adventure labs and waited on shipping from Saint George, UT. I can't tell you how disappointed I am for the price I paid ($48.00 with discount) for what I got. I appreciate the discount and I'm trying to support businesses local and you really let me down. CNC is not finished I had to file down all the edges. All of the hardware isn't even stainless, which I will replace. See the images. Don't recommend.

Americans, especially this culture of Americans who have Jeeps, are constantly talking about buying only American items and sometimes chastising others for buying Amazon Chinese-made things. Why wouldn't I for this $50 aluminum bracket? I could get it for $10. See additional pics of bad CNC on their own trademark. (Scratches are from my 120 grit paper after filing it, not from them) Just do better and ppl will buy your stuff. Econ 101.

It's a small bracket to mount your winch disconnect switch on your JT.

Looks like the two options on the website are raw/unfinished and textured black.

That looks, quite literally, like raw/unfinished.

So, I dont personally see a huge deal.

I guess all of the hardware being the same material would be nice though.

That's some terrible craftmanship. Blows my mind how the guy above me thinks "raw and unfinished" excuses the poor ass quality of that bracket. And others agree with him by liking the comment.

Anyways, I agree with you OP. Quality looks like shit. I too have been going out of my way to buy American Made and have been frequently disappointed with the quality. If I received that bracket it would be shipped back.

You're correct. And that's what I chose. However, I was hoping I would have just an unpainted piece. Not a piece that was sub par.

I would argue, for the price I paid, I was given a substandard item. I forget the price difference for the finished black, but regardless, $50.00 for what I got is not acceptable.

I have to agree this is subpar. American prices for Vevor quality ain’t too good. My question is whose to say the finished in black powder coat doesn’t have the same quality finish just coated (covered up). I’d do the same as OP though and just finish it off because it’s in my hands and needs to be done. I plan on a purchase or 2 from them but not on anything overly expensive. If it comes in in that condition I’d just run a file over it and clean it up.

Im not saying its not a bit slaggy (our laser cuts way nicer, but we spent $1.1 million on it), but the description literally says raw / unfinished. It doesnt say sanded, or ready for paint. It says exactly what it is

That is what metal off a CNC plasma cutter looks like. Maybe a cheaper laser machine or one that isnt serviced as often.

Buy enough $50 parts and they might buy better equipment or change the heads out more often lol.

To be totally fair i bought two generic bare aluminum brackets from Send Cut Send and they were cleaner - but i might have elected for a debur option. I dont remember.

Send Cut Send likely using higher quality equipment.

I agree with you and didn't expect many to NOT think it was unacceptable. American Adventure Labs came recommend from this forum, so I'd like to think this is just a Quality Control issue. But I guess I would rather let them know on this forum so they can fix it, rather than to speak with my money and just go elsewhere.

Our parts look like that at work, too.

Then we toss them in a media tumbler for several hours or run them through the sanding machine if its flat. Or it goes to a DA table and someone processes it by hand.

But we're not selling them as raw / unfinished, either. All our stuff becomes a completed piece installed on a vehicle.

This is a totally fair assessment, and maybe I'm being too critical. I appreciate your insight, as I have spent zero hours on a CNC. Lol. However, IMO, for $50, even raw unfinished should be better.

I paid $48 for two right angle brackets from Send Cut Send with two holes cut in each one. The total amount of metal was probably about what you had there. So, the amount seems close ish in that one instance.

3/16" aluminum is expensive, and so is American labor.

Anyway. Not discounting anyone here. It's fine to me. Doesnt have to be to anyone else. That looks like a 'typical' plasma (probably above typical compared to our older equipment) or a really poorly performing laser.

I havent ran a laser or a plasma, ive just been walking past a few of them and their parts for 18 years

And my old department did lots of work on getting machines to finish out raw parts for them to be ready for paint or direct usage.

Maybe it will inspire one of them to set the machine up a little better or check the heads on it.

To others credit here, anything that they can do to make the part come off the table as clean as possible saves them money processing it for paint / ppower coat.

So, it never hurts for raw/unfinished to be a clean as practical.
