Wanted to share my rack in progress. Im having someone bend and cut the brackets for me which is the biggest expense so far. For me, I have no plans to carry a tent and this wont support that as-is. The reason I went this route was actually being able to use my rolling cover. Everything thats out there you cant just roll it easily other than the other DIY racks Ive seen. My issue with the other was the overall height. I wanted this to be lower.
Its not perfect, I need to have new brackets made these are a little too flimsy, there was some confusion when ordering but for now these will work.
The bars are 3x1.5" aluminum and around 60" length with some caps at the end to clean it up.
The brackets are aluminum (will be steel when I get the new ones)
Mainly using this for fishing rods, snowboard and bikes for now. Plan is to add panels down the sides
