That would depend on what kind of step bars you are looking at. Best way to find out is to look at the installation directions for the step bars.

I had full lenght tube rails put on mine, the rock rails were removed. I like the tube step rails better. They protect my Glad from people opening there doos and hitting my Glad. There door would hit the tube steps first damaging there door.

I got a set from IAG and they bolted right on to the factory rock rails.

I really like the factory rock rails and didn’t want to replace them. So, I got the steps from IAG. They’re pricey, but I’m glad I have them.

I ended up putting Slider Steps on….. by Ironman

A few reasons….
**I wanted a step platform the whole way across the side …. So I could reach and wash the roof.
**Door ding protection…. They stick out enough to prevent dumb-ass people from dinging my body panels.
**Road Debris protection… Stuff flies up from the tires and hits the sliders first. I also have front mud flaps. After driving down a stone road, the little stones get stuck in the tires. We’ll be driving down the highway and hear a PING!!! That’s one of the stones coming out of the tire and hitting the slider steps.

If you're looking to keep your rock slider rails and you also would like an extremely functional step, our Cross Terrain steps are an excellent solution.

Unlike the other versions that remain at rail-height, which can be a huge step up or down still, especially on lifted vehicles. Ours clamp on very tight and can come off pretty quick if you need full clearance for wheeling. No other step is as strong or durable as our Cross Terrain.

Some use ours on 2 doors and other all 4. With a set of 4, you can very easily reach all areas of the roof. Our design is unique in that you can place them anywhere along the rail and they are pretty wide. Many customers report they are much easier still to get in and out or access the roof vs full-length rail height. Despite the drop, you can still do decent trails before needing to remove.
