Actually, no, I was talking about the cheapest option. It's $32,000, 48 HOURS LABOR NOT INCLUDED. When you factor in their labor, it's more than I paid for my new Jeep.
So only 2 pentastars you'll need to attach to the trans then?

Go 4xe and be done with it. Instant torque from the time your foot twitches on that pedal.

No, an extra gas tank to make it to the trail and back at 5 mpg.
I saw a JLU V8 in the showroom last week. It was a sweet vehicle, loaded with the factory stuff including factory installed winch and more. I could tell just walking into the store by the gold tow hooks what it was.

$101,000 plus some change,
and - a whopping 15 mpg or something like that.
And that's probably an optimistic number considering the sheer weight of the beast (steel hood, rock rails, winch, steel bumpers), rolling resistance of the tires, drag of the skyview roof and so on.

Yeah, I'd bet that 15 is way optimistic. There's a guy on Fuelly with 279 fillups, the largest sample size there, and he's averaging 10.9.

Double the power...and 2 less mpg than the pentastar delivers on a lifted JT on 37s. Seems like a win to me.

You are doing all sorts of mental gymnastics.
My 5.7 ram returned better mileage than my buddies 3.6l on average. When your engine needs to run 3k+ rpms to maintain freeway speed it simply won't return the best fuel economy. Meanwhile even on 35s loaded with camping gear the 5.7L would cruise along at 80mph at 1900 rpm. The 392s on the JL forum don't see near the hit to mpg the 3.6L do when the lift and put big tires on. The 3.6L will return decent economy driven gingerly in stock form. Make it work harder and it goes right in the toilet.

If you’re turning 3k to run hwy speeds you need to re-gear. I run 80 mph effortlessly in 8th gear at like 2300 rpm. Maybe 2200. I can’t remember.

It was an exaggeration, but any headwind or hill and it's definitely downshifting and running 3k+. Regearing doesn't fix the fact the 3.6L makes no power below 2500rpms. 5.13s in 8th are no downtravel than 4.10s in 7th. If it needs the power it needs the rpm.

My 3.6 pulling my car hauler with car averaged 13.9 mpg.
My Chevy with LS engine might do 12s on a good day.
I don't have to drive gingerly to get decent mpg FOR A JEEP THAT IS A TRUCK out of mine. They blow away any truck I've ever owned.

So you get 1 more mpg with half the power? I'll take the ls or the hemi for that small of a trade. If they offered the 5.7 in the gladiator for a reasonable price ($5k or less) I'd trade mine in tomorrow.

And exactly why am I concerned about "more power"?????? Why does it matter?
I don't race it.
I don't auto-cross it.
I don't do road rallies and try to beat the other guys' times.
I don't win trophies for being first across the intersection.
What would I do with more power? To what end? What gain? Show? rack up tickets?
Impress people as I burn the tires away from a stop light? Beat the other guys through traffic to prove something?
Why do so many care? What is gained?
It hauls my stuff just fine in all sorts of weather and terrain. It handles loads, trailers, etc. actually just as easily as my Chevy did - and a whole lot better than my Ford's 351 ever did.
So what do I do with the extra horsepower? Brag about it?

I don't get it either. I have a 3.6 V6 that would run circles around products from 10 or 15 years ago. My Rubicon with the low range will climb a tree if I wanted it to. And I can then turn around and drive it comfortably on the highway at 70MPH without a second thought. All of that and average close to 20MPG.

Overall, I personally won't complain about what I have.

If that's all I used my Jeep for, I'd probably still be driving a ram. More power for more Jeep things more quickly off road. You really feel the lack of power on deep sand and snow specifically. Or accelerating up a steep grade with a trailer. The 5.7L had no issues towing 8k pounds up the Rockies at speed. I miss the power for sure. Obviously the Jeep is better off road both from a size stand point and articulation. Do I need 400hp+ for it to work? Obviously not. Would it do pretty much everything as good or better? Absolutely. Better to have and not need than need and not have.
