What do you all think is the best app for finding camping spots while overlanding?

Curious what most people think is the best app for finding camping sites. Especially free camping sites. On x seems to be popular but what else is there and which one is the best bang for the buck?

I use Google, OnX and paper maps. OnX is great for boondocking.

For more remote option nothing beats iOverlander. I’ve used it all over North and South America.

I have this app thing called “My Eyeballs”. I use it to look for fire rings along whatever trail I happen to be on around whenever I decide it’s time to call it a day.

I never considered the camping i do overlanding never heard of iOverlander thanks for posting it. It does have a lot features that along with Google maps and OnX should cover almost everywhere that is not under water.

I use Trails Offroad, On X, iOverlander & The Dyrt. I find each offers varying results, so there is not one that stands out as the best.

Earlier this month we spent 8 days Dispersed Camping in Utah and while looking for options in the Bears Ears area the difference between Trails Offroad and On X was extreme and yes I had the Dispersed Camping option on in On X.

I use OnX to route and find potential spots then put the coordinates into Google Earth to get a better idea of terrain. I often find a spot then Earth shows it’s on a nasty slope
