I’ve looked high and low and can’t find the feature combination I want, so it looks like I need to order my next Jeep.

I visited a dealer (we’ll call them dealer 1) and got what seemed like decent pricing, but I also wanted to check with the dealer closest to home (we’ll call them dealer 2) since that’s where I’ll likely go for service.

It appears that dealer 1 is applying the currently available employee discount incentive to the order and thereby reducing their price by $2,500. The employee discount incentive ends at the end of June.

If I’m understanding the sales manager at nearby dealer 2 correctly, he’s saying that the employee discount doesn’t apply because the employee discount program ends at the end of June and my order won’t be fully complete until I receive the new Jeep which will be well after the end of June. He went on to say that if there’s not a comparable rebate in place by the time I receive the Jeep, that the dealer (dealer 1) offering the employee discount won’t necessarily honor their deal.

I guess my real question is:
Does the employee discount apply when you special order Jeep? (Or not?)

The discount applies at time of sale or order. Tell the closer dealer, dealer 2, deal or no deal with the discount.

I would do that and if they get pissy tell them to pound sand and go to the further dealer and buy and get service from them.

The closest JDR dealer when I bought my JTM in 2021 was dreadfull. I bought my JTM from them ONLY because they had exactly what I wanted on the lot. And I wanted it now.

I got service at a more trusted dealer when in warranty. I had to drive past 3 JDR dealers to get there, but trust is everything.

Past warranty, so now I do it all at home.

Good question. Have heard both ways. Most incentives say you must take delivery from retail stock but I have seen dealers honor incentives also at time of order or delivery, whichever is the better of the two.

I think it comes down to whichever way is right, any dealer doing it the other way is manipulating the paperwork to take the incentive.

Here's what my dealer says about incentives - once you place the order and it's accepted, whatever incentives are active at that time are locked in. He said the price can't go up, but could go down if the incentives get better when you actually complete the purchase.

The way he puts it - when you order, that's the minimum incentive - at the time of the order, it could be better, but not worse. It's locked in.

Bill Luke in Glendale AZ. has 80 Gladiators in stock and another 30 in transit. Three weeks ago I was able to get $12,500 off a Mojave. I bet Bill Luke will have $15,000 off by Labor day.

This is fun…

I’ve talked to 4 dealers.
2 say that the employee pricing applies when the vehicle is ordered (and is still good at delivery) and two say it’s not.
Aargh!!

If they want me not to buy, they’re doing a great job.

I’m curious though - why would this happen? Do two of the dealers just not want to order unless it’s very profitable for them?

Or are the others setting me up for a surprise when the Jeep arrives?

Need to find one of the below invoice dealers like Koons or Tri-City and deal with them. They know how to do custom orders and know what is what.

Some dealers are just inept baboons.

Yeah, unreal that they won't lock that in. I suspect they play with numbers a bit, too........ like put one price on the web then do a bait and switch crap when you actually try to buy.

That's always been the case with dealers here - whatever the incentive is when you order - that's what you get.
The guy I deal with literally says "it's locked in"

Well, here’s a twist…

I just read about the employee pricing incentive on the Jeep website.

The Jeep website says it isn’t available on Sport models. I was trying to order a Sport S, so that may answer that.

Makes me wonder even more about the dealers who are offering that.
