Well… I closed my door today and the locking mechanism just fell out.

I am out of warranty, so I need to figure this out myself… ideas?

I see two choices.

1) Dig into removals and try to see what failed as far as the cylinder retainer.
Actually it might not be as internal as I was first thinking, see video around 5:42 on retaining screw.

2) Take it to a lock smith.
It may not be that expensive of a fix, even if it is and you decide to go back to option 1, I bet you learn something on how to fix it .

FWIW I recently went through as similar issue with a BMW, I had to get some parts from a lock smith along with a little wisdom, but I think with the Jeep it might just be as simple as that retaining screw.

This worked! Appeared the screw had worked itself loose. Set the lock mechanism back in and tightened screw(t25) and back in tight/good as new!
