I took the front doors off my 2022 Gladiator Mojave and something strange happened. The acceleration was quicker and it would hold 8th gear which it hasn't done since I put 35s on it. Is there a different mode triggered with the doors off? It can't be the weight of the doors or increased drag on the open spaces.

That’s weird; the wife and I both get lower mpgs ( worse aerodynamicwith anything off/open, assuming everything else is the same.

The only thing different that I can think of is the auto-park safety feature, and that wouldn’t have any impact on mpgs nor wind dynamics.

in troubleshooting terms, correlation doesn’t necessarily mean causation. My best guess is that something else changed, unnoticed. You’ll get your best mpgs, on flat ground, no wind, doors/top/windows on and closed, around 45mph to 60mph, proper inflation, clean/waxed, ht/at/mt treads in that order, warm/dry weather, maybe medium elevation. In summary, with variables constant, it’s all about wind, then about gears/tires ( rolling resistance ).

I think it's just more enjoyable, more connected to the road.

I tell my wife whenever I drive naked I swear the Jeep drives better than it down with the top and doors on, feels quicker, turns quicker, but I think I'm just in a better mood and being more optimistic with everything off.

Having the climate control off, especially the AC, makes it run better. Could be that if your normally have your AC on but have it off with the doors off.
