I have always been a fan of polarized sunglasses when driving. Often, I find that they help in rain and snow conditions during the day. What about lenses that are not so dark but still polarized?
Any real world experience would be great.

I run Oakley glasses and have for the last almost 20 years. They have a lot of different styles of lenses that help out a lot in different conditions or activities. I’ll have to check which ones I’m currently on but in the past I’ve run trail oriented lenses for cycling and running and some of their more amber yellowish lenses for shooting. Dropped my first pair into a radiator fan on an R33 Skyline. They survived due to a plastic fan. Ran a pair over with my mower after leaving them on a tire removing crap from the mower deck. They did NOT survive. That pair for cycling took a rock hit full on the lense from a dump truck kicking it up at speed and very little damage. To the lense. My eye was very thankful because that would have majorly impacted my career at the time.

I had a pair of Oakley Flak’s for about 15 years (before someone helped themselves to them) that went through several sets of rubber. They were polarized, mirrored charcoal lenses. I agree quite clear for plastic but a little darker that I am looking for.
I figured a yellow/amber lense polarized would probably be best.
Thanks, I will look back into Oakley.

I just got some Ray Ban aviators with the green tint. Polarized. I like it compared to my other pair glasses that are charcoal tint. I think it's a little brighter. I'll try to remember to side by side compare this week.

In an update to my first post, I’m currently using the Prism driving lenses in my Oakley glasses. Kind of a refined polarization tech I guess. They don’t seem as dark as other polarized I’ve used. Still functions well for cutting glare but not as dark. If that makes sense.

Yes makes sense. That is what I am looking for less dark lenses for severe weather driving.
I have had gov issued green ā€˜aviator’ glasses and they are good for sun. Ray Bans glass lenses are extremely clear as well. I want low light glare cutting. You know like Amber-Vision claims.

I love my Bolle's. But they are hard find. Using Oakley's now since the cataract surgery.

Best bet is to brave a shopping mall and go try some on. It sucks but that’ll tell you exactly what you need to know better than the internet images. I hate malls myself. Sets off my spidey senses with so many people going in and out of shops from all sides.

Cabela's/Bass Pro usually have a good selection of sun glasses. That's where I got my Oakley's. Got them on sale.
