Yesterday, I had both resonators and the muffler removed and added dual straight pipes with some nice rolled-edge tips under the back bumper. My plan was to try this out for a week, and if it was too much, add a Dynomax Bullet where the front resonator used to be. I don't mind the sound level from the outside, but some of the drone from inside the cab while driving is a little much. My other option would be to add a J-pipe.

Does anyone have experience with using either of those exhaust setups? I'm leaning towards the Dynomax option because I've seen how that sounds online, but I don't know what the final product sounds like when you have straight pipes with the J-pipe.

To get rid of the drone. You need a helmholtz pipe.

I'm hoping someone has some firsthand experience with that, specifically with the Pentastar. That would go a long way in helping me decide which option to go with.

Prior experience with B2 Fabrication system; At the connecting flange on the OE pipe is a resonator. The system replaced that entire pipe, straight to the new muffler, DRONE now at 2K - 2.4K. Looked at all of the above; and had an exhaust shop re-install that pipe to the B2 Muffler. DRONE no longer present. Just reporting on our experience and how we got rid of the Drone.

If i was going to do anything to a gladiator to add a better exhaust note it would be the Flowmaster outlaw extreme Cat back system. A 3 inch Stainless steel system that is supposedly designed for the 3.6s parameters. It is the best sounding system i have come across makes the little 3.6 sound better more performance oriented without any negative drone or gutted tinny sound. i do not know how much benefit it would be with or without a performance tune.

I had the J-pipe added this morning, and that eliminated a huge amount of the drone. In my opinion, it sounds better than any Flowmaster setup I've heard for the V6, and it's louder, too. I'm very happy with it. I'll post some pictures and audio in my build thread when I get the chance.

The only way to make the Gladiator sound good is to swap in a V8. The 3.6 sounds like a riced out civic with any sort of exhaust other than stock.

I beg to differ. It doesn’t sound like my Challenger Scat Pack, but it does sound good.

I started with a stock exhaust. I had both resonators and the muffler removed. Then, I had dual straight pipes with black rolled tips added. Finally, I had the J-pipe installed to kill most of the drone.

so the dual exhaust you didn’t buy as an aftermarket kit. You had someone make the exhaust for you? I only ask because I haven’t seen a true dual exhaust for these trucks. All the kits out there are dual tail pipes not a full true dual exhaust

Yes, I had a local muffler shop do the entire thing. It's a straight pipe after the cat (with the J-pipe) and branches out to dual pipes about where the muffler used to be, roughly in front of the rear axel if I'm picturing it right from memory. The dual pipes come straight out under the rear bumper. Once I finally get to slow down this week, I'll add some pictures.

I'm not even sure how dual pipes all the way would work with the Jeep loop and all.

I highly doubt it. Since the beginning of the JK with the 3.8. I have yet to hear a 3.8/3.6 that sounds even mildly decent. And this is coming from someone who used to defend the Jeep 4.0 straight 6 from people who used to say they only way a TJ sounds good is if you V8 swap it.. And I will admit. My TJ with the 4.0 sounds pretty good. But the 3.8/3.6 just dont sound good. At all, other than stock.

I don’t know what to tell you other than the various people who have actually heard it have told me they liked the sound. I’m sitting at 100% positive feedback right now, which is more than I expected beforehand, especially since it’s not a HEMI. šŸ˜‚

There was an older Corvette owner at the shop who asked about what I had done. He said his son put an exhaust system on his V6 Charger that sounded terrible and that he was going to recommend to him to do the same as me.

At the end of the day, I’m pretty picky about my mods, including the sound, and I’m very happy with it.

I had a custom true dual installed on my JT - I had them remove the trumpet and go straight back, installed a double x-pipe welded together, Jones mufflers off set for space over the diff and back to the bumper where they dump out pointing down with a slash cut. You can't see the pipe, and no tips required. Best sounding v-6 I have ever heard....
