Went out for a short drive last night and the ESC service light came on when I was shifting from reverse to 1st just as I was pulling out of my driveway. Toggled the ESC on and off and it had no effect. Didn't feel anything unusual on my short trip (only ~2mi or so), parked and went into a store, came back out ~10m later and on ignition the ESC service light isn't on anymore, and it didn't come back on for the trip home. Figured I'd see if it came back in the morning, and it did not. So everything seems fine?

I guess my question here is whether I should be doing something more to diagnose or investigate or just chalk this up as a random event (up until the light comes back on again, anyway). Doesn't seem worth making a service appt for (yet). Anybody else had this occur?

Document it at the least and perhaps contact the dealer to make them aware. It may be nothing but if things start going squirrely it may be good to note where it started.

Hi solfrost,
We're sorry to hear about this. Should this occur again and you decide to visit your dealer, please feel free to PM us. We would be happy to connect you with a Case Specialist to assist.

Mine just came on too. Thought it might go out with a restart, but it didn't. 2020 JTR, 25k miles. 😒

No other symptoms, so I hope it's not related to the Rubicon locker/axle issue.

Apparently not having a centered steering wheel because of lift, leveling, and spacer kits can cause an ESC error.

There's a section of freeway here that has ridges where the concrete sections meet. It gives me a lot of up and down bounce, especially at higher speeds. I went over it one day at 70mph and it caused enough up and down movement that the ESC disengaged the ACC.
