Retail order no good for me, already spoke with Gupton. Problem is Florida state, you need a trade to get a sales tax credit. So it has to be a dealer with a unit in stock. We'll see how things go. I actually really like the max tow. In fact if the deal isn't really right, i'll just pass and still be happy.
This is incorrect information. You can still do a trade-in on an order in FL and get the tax credit applied. It's all done at the point of sale. You don't need to buy off the lot to make that work. Done this myself.

If you buy out-of-state, then you need to pay the title fees to register it in FL. You can avoid this by placing an order with a FL dealer.

True, I just don't want to wait the 2 months for an order. Plus as far as I know nobody in Florida is giving deals like the Gupton discounts, not even close, so it wasn't a consideration for that reason I miswrote. Dealing with Florida dealers makes you want to just keep the current car and walk away.

Last week I call a dealer in Lutz, FL they had a Mojave listed at 4k below MSRP. They quote me 2k less than Carvana and tack on 4k for 'lojack and paint something' It's super ridiculous. At least if there is FCA mandated employee pricing its easier. I think it may be coming a second time.

I guess a lesson in basic economics would help here.
Prior to COVID and even more so during the early stages of COVID, there were way more vehicles produced by manufacturers than the public was willing to buy. So discounts were they way of life to increase sales.
At the point where we are now, there are fewer vehicles available than people want to buy, so discounts have been reduced greatly and some vehicles sell for more than MSRP.

So until demand falls or production increases, deals like employee pricing aren't going to come back.

Remember that if you're buying a $50k truck, the FL taxes come out in the neighborhood of $3k. So if you go to Gupton, get $4k off invoice, take your current truck and sell it to CarMax or something for $4k more than being offered on trade-in, you're really ahead quite a bit (net $5k). Likely much more because the dealership selling off-the-lot is going off MSRP and not invoice. Don't let the state taxes scare you away from a good deal.

Now of course you can say "I don't want to wait" in which case you need to stop worrying so much about pricing. You can get it now and pay more, or you can wait for an order and pay less. And if you are waiting for just the right deal to come around on the lot, you're going to be waiting just like you would for an order to come through. You don't save any time here. Not to mention, if you order you get exactly what you want, not something that's close but not quite right. Pick your poison.

I think you need to crunch the numbers more and do some more comparisons, because the $3,000 you might pay in FL taxes isn't that hard to overcome, especially with a dealer like Gupton.

How much is your trade worth?

I'm glad you wrote this. You saved me 10 minutes. I was going to say the same thing. Ha.

I can assure you that I know the numbers. The thread is not about me working a deal but rather that I believe employee pricing 2 will come into effect as sales diminish with rising fuel prices and the rest of the bs going on right now. On this forum in the last week I have seen people say they were selling due to fuel costs alone. One guy said he was getting a Civic to replace so its obviously becoming a problem for many.

Interesting. Could they give you any color on how much of an increase is speculated?
My dealer could not specifically tell me what models were going to increase, but the Jeep and Ram lines were mentioned. They were saying the cost of all metal materials is going up. They stated that increases of up to $1500 will be built into the MSRP's. It doesn't appear that the option prices will increase again as they did in January.
