2012-2013 Pentastar Wrangler JK's had a lot of issues with the cylinder heads and misfires. FCA just did a 10/150K limited warranty extension on the cylinder heads for those affected years. At best, that is what they will probably do here if the issue is pervasive enough.

I had a 2012 & 2015 Grand Cherokee with the same Pentastar engine and never once had a issue or engine light. I always thought of it as a good engine.

IIRC, the defect rate was only 0.5% back then. Of course when it happens to one's self, it is a 100% defect rate perception. Nobody wants to be "that guy" when stuff like this happens to. It is just your turn in the barrel and mine maybe tomorrow.

Yeah.. of course my luck! I have owned 6 jeeps since 1989 and not a single engine light until this one. I guess it was my time.

This is my fourth Jeep with the Pentastar family V6 and no issues on any of the past vehicles either. The main thing regardless, is how FCA and their dealership network deals with these issues that can make or break ones experience and loyalty to a brand. Unfortunately, FCA has a dismal track record when it comes to resolving such issues and it is a pogo stick jump back and forth between the dealership service department and FCA corporate. Their whole process is FUBAR'd.

Yeah my family have worked for Jeep ( American motors corp.)since the like 1979 and still do and have always owned Jeep& dodge products all my life. Since Fiat has bought them out I have lost all confidence in the brand. Jeep is the only brand keeping FCA afloat and they are running it into the ground.. its sad.

Can't agree with you, here. Ram is thriving. Dodge selling lots of Challengers and whatnot at great margins. I think your Jeep luck in the past has been better than most.
We're enjoying our FCA Dodge Durango immensely. A much better vehicle than I expected. I'd love to have the SRT version. I'm strongly considering the JT based on it's fun factor combined with its ability to tow 5K somewhat comfortably. I'll be going into it expecting to have some issues with reliability. Jeep has a factual history, after all. They are not Toyota. However, FCA seems to be (to me) one of the few auto makers building anything INTERESTING. I'm tired of boring vehicles.
I sincerely hope they get your engine lined out and you have a great ownership experience. As a potential customer, I sure would like to read a lot more positive experiences on this board about how their issues are handled, that's for sure.

@GlacierGladiator, did they fix your jeep? If so, what was the solution?
Nope! The engine light keeps coming back on cold starts for a misfire. The dealer sent me home with it as it's only having 3 misfires per minute on cold starts and once it warms up it goes down to 1 or 2. I have to take it back on the 9th and they will tear down the intakes and look for internal issues, if nothing then they will tear down the valves looking for issues.
I personally think it is nothing internally wrong but more electrical or something with the VVT technology. I think this technology is new for this model or the JL maybe.
I really dont want them tearing down the engine in a new vehicle as I dont think it will ever be the same but dealer claims Jeep will not just let them throw parts at it without lights or codes. I asked them to replace the VVT solenoid first.

Thanks for the update. They should be able to check the VVT solenoid. Hopefully, it's that simple.

First time posting. Have a brand new Gladiator Overerland. Less than 2 weeks old and less than 400 Miles. It's already back to the dealer for the same issue you are having CEL with a p0300 code. Looks like numerous people are having the same issue...completely unacceptable.

Mine threw the po300 code twice then threw a code stating valve was stuck in up possiton. They installed a new VVT solenoid and have not had a problem in over 2000 miles knock on wood.
