Thanks for this info. I hit 88 degrees and ended up in 1985...

J/k, it all worked like it should and I filled just under 6 quarts. The only thing that was a little unnerving was being under the Jeep on the lift with it running pulling the plug out of the tranny to add more fluid.

No, if following the factory fill procedure, should take around 5.5 to 6 ish quarts. 4 quarts is about just the initial fill when it dribbles out the fill hole. That is with the factory pan. PPE pan may have more capacity.

Cliff Notes:

  • On cold engine and transmission, fill transmission until it dribbles out.
  • Run engine and transmission and right before transmission temp reaches 86F, shift transmission for a few second through all gears and in manual mode and place back in park.
  • When transmission temp reaches 86F and still running, pull fill plug and add fluid until in dribbles out fill plug hole and reinstall fill plug and then you are done.

Sounds like you got it. I have done it twice. Once on my 2020 JT that took 6.5 quarts and once on my 2022 JT that took 5.5 quarts. Difference in quantity will usually depend on how much drains out of the torque converter back into the main body sump when cold. That is why from cold and you first remove the fill plug, a few quarts will dribble out and then you still have about 4 quarts remaining in the pan drop to get out. With your PPE pan though, that drain plug will make it way easier.

90% of this job in doing the fill is staging and being ready to act quick.
