I have a stock 2020 JT Sport S with 20k miles on it. Recently the engine started rattling usually in between 3 and 4 gears. It is much more pronounced going up hills. I Took it to the dealer who did some tests that came back showing nothing wrong. I took the mechanic out for a drive to show him. He acknowledged the noises and when we got back to the shop, he and the manager said there was nothing they could do because it doesn't show up on their diagnostics. He said go ahead and drive it, it won't cause any more damage and that when a computer update is ready or a recall comes out i can bring it back.

Seriously?

This is my first new vehicle. Is this how a warranty works in general? Or is Mopar special in this way? What the heck to i do?

Can't help you with JEEP Canada, you have different laws.

Try another dealership service department and see if you get a different result.

Auto or manual? What rpm range? Yes, it's typical, unfortunately. If it's a software problem, there's nothing the dealership can do until Mopar comes out with new software. There plenty of people with a rattle, though.

Auto, not sure what the RPMs are. On the higher range just before it changes.

Watching the threads this has been an issue with gladiator since the beginning. 2 years and still not software update?

I'm wondering if this is related to the class action lawsuits against FCA?

Might be time to trade up to a Toyota.

My 20 JTR, 22k miles has a tik tik tik that I can hear inside the cab, middle pass side. It gets most noticeable at 3k and up and speeds up width engine speed. Almost like when you vibrate your tongue I guess, lol.

Is this what you guys are seeing? It's sounding like it doesn't hurt anything but sounds like crap.

Hello Michael, it’s a terrible thing to have spent a lot of money for an item like this only to be told there’s nothing they can do.

Arm yourself with some solid data and get an oil analysis done! If you have an engine problem, the data will show it and it’s hard evidence to use and show there’s a problem.

Unfortunately, for a customer in Canada that now buys a Chrysler product, you are not buying a US vehicle like in the days of old when Jeep was an American product, made with American pride….
Chrysler sold to FIAT and Fiat is a Netherlands based company and when they became a Netherlands company they pulled out of the Canadian federal arbitration group called CAMVAP. You’re on you own to fight for your warranty, unless you sue.

I bought my JTR February 2021 and I got an oil analysis at 1000k kms when I did my first oil change. Lab ALERTD me to glycol in the oil. In 32,800kms, I have done 6 oil changes and the lab alerts me to glycol consumption in the engine. Chrysler will do nothing about it because “it isn’t broken”. This is unacceptable!

At 20k kms, my transmission started to whine. I pulled an oil sample at 24k and lab alerted me to glycol contamination in the transmission from the factory. I went to the dealership and showed him the report on the transmission and said I needed to do a flush. He said cost is on me and I should just drive it till it breaks. No where in our owners manual or warranty information booklet is there instructions to drive our vehicles into the ground! It’s wreak less behaviour. I went elsewhere and had the flush done and 8k later, @32,800kms, my truck is dead and they are pinning the repairs on me.

I have hired a lawyer who knows Chrysler very well, legally, and has now put the dealership and FCA on legal notice to make the repairs or be sued.

Your cam sounds like it is going flat. That description sounds about like what mine was.

I have seen 5 of these now. My guess is they are more widespread than they should be. If you are never leaning into the throttle hard it is hard to determine something is wrong.
