Exhaust System Mod: Anyone removed the Resonator?

Has anyone cut off their Gladiator's resonator?

Based on my experience with pickup trucks off road, the resonator/tip is likely going to get smashed so its damage will be an "indicator" of how hard your Gladiator's rear end came down on the trail.

I'm thinking about doing that - cutting off the resonator where it turns downwards right around the shield next to the spare tire (see pic).

If I don't do it sooner I'm sure I'll have to do it later...

Cut the resonator off welded a pipe the same length and welded the factory tip back on.
Welded the hanger back on
Sanded and painted it with high temp crinkle paint
Not much change in sound, At least not enough for me.
Hoped it was a bit louder.

I like what you did there! Thanks for posting. I'll be doing something similar but I want the pipe (not sure if I'll do a downturn tip) up higher
