Can someone recommend a way to allow the rear door to open further, like 90 degrees? I’ve found replacement straps for JL and extender straps for JK rear doors but not extender straps for JL/JT rear doors.

Wondering if @darksidedesign could fab some from paracord? Fixedloops on both ends, like a soft shackle. Thread through the OEM loop on one end and connect the new loop to the hardware on the door jamb?

JL straps should work fine for the JT, the doors are interchangeable

Pretty sure this will require you to extend the wiring harness as well. I'd just swap in JL stuff. guaranteed fit and no wire cutting needed.

FWIW…if you are referring to the Velcro strap idea from the previous post, I have had mine done that way for a couple of years now and have had no need to extend the wiring.

Now mine is a 2020 and I can’t say that the wiring harnesses aren’t different from year to year, but I set my Velcro extensions to be long enough that the door opens plenty wide but not so wide that I can’t also open the front doors and there is still ample “slack” in the wiring harnesses to prevent them being damaged.

If that’s not what you were talking about, my apologies and disregard.

Cheers

Looks like that may be the way to go. I have some 2” wide velcro I can count down and make a loop. Good thing is zero cost. Thanks
FWIW, I’m in Tempe. If you have any questions or want to see it before you do it, send me a PM and we can link up.

There's plenty of extra wiring on my 2021, but the hardware retainer prevents the door from opening to a full 90 degrees. That would also need to be extended or removed.
Yes, that wasn’t mentioned but I did have to do that as well. I unbolted the retainer, pushed it into the door, and then screwed the bolts right back into the door sill so I wouldn’t lose them.

I have a 23' and all the hardware, wire and straps are just long enough to let the door open in its stock range. If i changed out everything but the wire, I'd rip it clean out of socket. You got a pic of yours?

Here's what it looks like with the door fully extended against the strap extension:

And here's what it looks like with the plastic panel removed so you can see what is behind it:

Maybe they shortened the harnesses. Have you pulled the plastic panel off to see if maybe your harness is as long as mine but maybe it's kinked behind the panel?

Sounds like @Lunentucker says his '21's harnesses are like my '20's. Maybe it changed in '22 or '23. Now inquiring minds want to know!!!
