the short version? Never will I Be buying from extreme terrain again. I'd recommend you avoid them as well.

I've spent over $4,300 at extreme terrain in the last year or so.
their customer service phone message "thanks for calling____" has changed 3x in the last year. Not a different message, an entirely different company name. First it was thanks for calling extreme terrain, and a person actually answered. then it was turn 5, now it is American trucks or some such.

Had an issue with a BOLT on a tonneau cover. they sent AN ENTIRE TONNEAU COVER at no charge, told me to remove the bolt i needed and send it back...at their expense. Well, after a few phone calls it was at their expense. They initially weren't even sure they wanted it back. checked box dimensions and weight on shipping sites...It cost them around 350$ each way to replace a bolt for me.

Recently had an issue with the tailgate trim panel by red rock. one of the lights quit working. Called for a replacement in February . few weeks later i get an email stating i need to pay 27$ for them to ship the replacement to me. this thing weighs maybe 5lbs and comes in a box just smaller than a tailgate.

so a tonneau cover, no sweat...they spent 700$ to replace a bolt. but a 5lb trim panel crosses the line?
i replied to their email, with a similar amount of fervor as I've shown above. They never responded. About a month later(we are now almost into end of April early may at this point) i call them up because there was zero communication from them.

the lady assigned to my return case does not take phone calls. Ok, can you relay a message to her since she has not responded to my emails? Yeah we can do that. Ok, thanks.
a week later i get an email stating that my return has been cancelled. Nothing farther.

i wait another week expecting a call, or an email...nothing.
I call back. similar situation, with little to no resolution beyond she will get back to you.
at no point thus far has anyone asked me for the 27$ they wanted to ship this thing...just they they will get back to me.

so finally today I call back, woman on the phone sounds like she is talking to me from the other side of a box fan(remember doing that as a kid? LOL) after 10 minutes on hold while she "reviews my account" ...
"It seems we need 27$ to ship you this replacement, and you will have a return label emailed to you for the old one"
Now, I have my account and email open during the call. No new emails, no return label in my account page(yes i hit refresh). I had to call back and get them to resend the email, and finally got it.
they now have my 27$ and i have little to no confidence in this actually getting solved properly.

big middle finger to extreme terrain. I strongly suggest you avoid these clowns. It looks like the company has been sold a couple times, or their leadership is worthless. who knows, but their customer service is absolute trash.

Extreme Terrain is owned by "Turn 5" that is the parent company of multiple brands like American Truck and American Muscle. They have not changed ownership multiple times but you are reaching a centralize customer service location for all three brands.

You are not the first nor will be the last to have this experience with them. I won't say I will swear them off, but they are a last resort if I can avoid it.

They are a glorified drop shipper of other brands and their house brands are not stellar quality either many times.

Been working with Extreme Terrain for many years and I never had a problem with orders. I can't say much of customer service because I never really had to contact them. But I'd say a LOT of companies fall short when it comes to customer service. I usually just go through @Northridge4x4 nowadays.

Idk why anyone buys from any of these generic first pop up google search wannabe amazon companies. Buy directly from the manufacturer when it comes to vehicle mods.

So far, every time I ordered from both ET and N4x4 they shipped it from the manufacture, so yeah, they were definitely NOT Amazon knock-offs

He didn't say they were knock-offs, just the company was an amazon wannabe - they sell stuff from multiple companies and places, sell THROUGH multiple companies, stock nothing, drop ship almost everything (sounds like Amazon and RockAuto)

Similar experience… they shipped to the wrong address and said there was nothing they could do about it. Fought their CS and eventually through my CC company. They sent the CC the same canned BS they sent me. Eventually the CC company credited me.

That is true, but personally I never had issues with either of them.

Amazon no real problem (just know what you are buying and WHO it's coming from or even where it's coming from)

RockAuto - I swore off them years ago after they screwed me over more than once, and their shipping was outrageous for even tiny parts.
(I can get most of the same stuff with free shipping and free returns from Amazon anyway)

Used extreme terrain for several years and never any issues. My go to is Quadratec. After reading this post I will be more careful when ordering from extreme terrain.

When I got my DV8 tire carrier for my JKU Quadratec was the only people who could ship it here to Honolulu without the crazy shipping price! Yes, they've been great as well, no issues.

i meant more that their "thanks for calling_____" has changed. like i said, IDK why, but whatever CS they are using is garbage.

When I first got into Jeeping in 2014 with my JKU at the time, Quadratec, Extreme Terrain and Northridge 4X4 were the go to for the basics. Quadratec and Extreme Terrain have slip quite a bit the last 5 years or so.
