Hey fellow JT owners,

I've been using my Gladiator to lug Jeep parts, tires, garbage, lumber, etc. and being it sits outside of my garage in the very hot Hawaiian sun, my bed liner is starting to fade. Does anyone know what products or DIY method works best to restore our factory bed liner? I've seen the Herculiner product, but this Amazon review stood out to me: "Used this in my Tacoma bedliner. It worked just the same as Armor All. Not worth the extra cost. " Any info is appreciated - thanks in advanced!

This is my 2 cents. Unless the original product was sprayed with a UV protectant formula to begin with, anything after the fact is putting lipstick on a pig. I would say just get use to the fading and embrace it. The bed is the working side of the vehicle and does not need to be pretty. Most trucks out there with a bedliner will be the same also over time. Putting another liner material on top is also asking for trouble and might make it worse down the road than if you left it be.

If it really gets your goat looking at it, the factory bed liner is put on with an adhesive promoter and not surface scuffed like Line-X is or similar done in the aftermarket. With a bit of work, it can be peeled off and you can then have a aftermarket liner applied that has UV protection properties.

As dirty as my cars/trucks/jeeps get I still like to keep it clean. Even when I used to off-road weekly and get it covered in dirt, sand and mud, I would still clean it and would never let it sit in its filth. Same with the truck bed, I wouldn't turn it into a trash bin just because I load trash in it. For me personally, I don't think I could ever embrace the fading and dirtyness

We all have our crosses to bear.

I think you over read what I said about not needing to look pretty, it did not mean leaving it filled with trash or not ever washing it out.

Best wishes in your quest.

Just a thought .... is it possible or should I say practical to simply paint the bed liner black with some sort of paint? I was thinking something epoxy-based that should stick to just about anything. If the bed was still in good shape, I don't see why paint wouldn't achieve what you are looking to do.

Do you have the factory (or Linex’d) sprayed liner? Or did you buy a drop in?

There’s sooo many products out there that’ll do the same thing. Just be careful what you use and where. Some products leave the surfaces ‘slippery’.

We’ve used Ceramic coating on everything ‘black and plastic’ on the JT including the inner fender liners. However, we never did the bed….. (haven’t needed it, I have a bed cover and truck is still new).

If you have a LineX or factory textured liner - you’re better off buying a spray ceramic coating that doesn’t need buffing. Trying to wipe/buff that rough surface would be a nightmare.

It looks like it could be factory? Will definitely look into ceramic coating, thank you for the info!

That's what I'd probably do.

This looks interesting, will definitely look into it! Thank you!
I tried this on my cowl. It only lasted about a month and half. No way would it be economical or even practical for the bed liner. It comes as pre-soaked towels that are very small. I think there are 6 in the box. One towel barely finished my cowl.

It lasts for about 6 months on my fenders, and everything else that's black on my JT. Used to be 10 in the box. The last box had 8. One towel will do one fender plus the door handles and mirror one one side.

We had vastly different experiences. I was sad because I really wanted it to work, so many people have talked its praises on this site.
