MOPAR boy up there trying to sell you a Subaru . Crableg, are you sure that your wife didn’t sign up with that user name to pitch you on buying her a new Ascent?

I’ve got 2 kids and an 85 lb Weimaraner, so I’ll be in essentially the same boat. The back seat of a JKU definitely doesn’t work when car seats are involved, but it is noticeably smaller than that of a JL. I’m hoping that with one kid or the dog in the middle, that things will work out. Here’s a guarantee: my kids will have more room than when my parents crammed 3 kids and a dog in the back of a Ford Festiva or Escort wagon for road trips.

With a camper shell or soft topper, the dog and gear will definitely learn to enjoy the bed area. The added advantage of keeping the dog in back is that not many thieves probably know just how harmless a Weim is once the low pitched rumbling-barking stops ‍♂
Beautiful dogs, smart little buggers too. Reminds me of my big baby chocolate Labs. They're just barking and growling because they're mad you're not scratching them behind the ears.

Yep. It’s a greeting, NOT a threat

Steffen, I just might have the laziest Weim on earth. He’s willing to go on a 10 mile jog, and loves running the trails, in a literal “heel” just off the back bumper of the Jeep...but if given the chance, he’d sleep for a week straight, only getting up for food.

Weimaraner? Is that like a coon dog or a hound of sorts?

Yeah, kinda. The exact genetic background has never been revealed, but it’s thought to have been a hybrid of hound, pointer, and retriever, originally bred for German royalty. Initially they were used as pack hunters of big game (deer, elk, bears, wolves, etc), but most in the US are used for show or as bird dogs. I had a second one that we rescued that had some incredible natural pack hunting instincts. Untrained, but perfect point, natural flushing tendencies in the woods and grass, and would imediately take an intercept track once Blaise started chasing prey.

I have a black Lab mix that I love. But she's not allowed inside the Jeep regardless. $40,000 vehicle + dog paws n claws is a NO GO. She can ride in the back or stay at home.

It amazes me to see guys let dogs ruin the interiors on expensive vehicles. If you don't have any kids, you can use the doggy seat covers, but once you add kids to the mix that kind of goes away.

Some people treat their dogs like family members, or even love them more than their kids.

Thus my requirement for a truck that has fold-up rear seats so he can ride on the floor. This requirement scratched every other mid-size truck off the list. I also want Fold-down rear Seats to kennel him inside the truck on long trips.

My dog riding in the truck is an absolute requirement for me. I can’t swim to fetch my ducks out of ponds, walk hundreds of acres hoping to scare up a few quail, nor hunt for lost doves in high grass. He earns his ride in my trucks as all my dogs have. To date, I’ve gone through three labs and one wiredhaired pointer with no damage to any of my vehicles. vacuuming out lab hair has been the biggest nuisance. Much better now with the wirehair. I can’t leave him in the back due to extreme weather swings and people who steal working dogs. Believe it or not a solid pointer/retriever is worth several thousand dollars, not to mention all the blood, sweat, and tears it takes to get one trained.

Yep GWP. Griffons are hard to find in Texas. Great dogs with solid temperaments. I ended up going to Kansas to find my GWP.

Does anyone have a pic of rear facing car seat (I have a 10 month old) in their JLU/JKU? I have a 14' JGC right now and the rear facing seat is huge for the back. I'm concerned that it would be smaller in the JT??

I had a JKU and was able to "reasonably" fit (3) carseats across (1) rear facing huge infant seat and (2) booster seats.

At one point an adult sat between (1) infant seat and (1) booster. Wasn't ideal but it worked.

If they do not have to be in carseats than I think it would work fine

I have 3 forward facing car seats across the back. At least one of them should be a Radian car seat as they are super narrow.
