A lot of guessing maybe there is a legitimate reason like the paint guy is checking the paint color match to make sure it still matches at night in front of an apartment building or the autobody shop guy is having an affair doesn't want his wife to see his car parked at her sisters.

Well, the timing is perfect. My daughter had her baby last week. I have been out of town since the 8th. There was no movement until the 8th when I was out of town.
Congratulations!!!!

Don't those air tag things only ping off of other air tags and/or people that use air tags?

Pardon my ignorance, but I don't believe those things are super accurate as the rely on a bluetooth network of similar air tags and people that use them. It's not "GPS". Is it possible this is just a glitch or inaccuracy from an imperfect tracking setup? How close to the body shop are the places your Jeep allegedly went?
If it pings 6 miles away from the expected location, it was probably closer to the area shown. The reason for the stakeout was to confirm the movement. Can't do anything about it now.

Now that I am back in town, I decided to check on the progress after 3 weeks at the body shop. ZERO progress! Back to waiting on Jeep for approval, or so that is what the dealership says.

Shortly after that little chat, the airtag picked up movement again. It moved down the main highway a couple of laps and then back to the body shop.

This morning I also left JeepCares a quick note of the info I received from the dealership. Two hours later, Jeepcares called me to give me the info that I gave them.

I'm just lost and confused on who is running the show.

Apparently they are using it as the new shop runner truck

I just got a call from the body shop. The corrosion was too deep for repair. They had to resubmit photos of the attempted repair showing the corrosion. Waiting on Jeep or the Dealership to do their part. I don't know which panels are in question, but they have been removed. I was offered to have my Jeep returned to me while they wait. So today they took it for a ride without the hood or tailgate. That would also explain why it didn't move at all last week. I can't wait to see the videos on the camera.

Id be paying a visit to the body shop. Aint no way some goofball newb (because that’s who makes the food runs) is going to be out showboating in my Gladiator and not get a face full of knifehands and Kermit talk.

I'm still holding out that it is a technology glitch. I know that it shows it most of the time within a half block of the body shop. It has been as far as 3 miles away and several times just half mile away ( at the pizza, bbq and the pub!).

I have a camera mounted on the dash. I'll know if they unplugged it and when. Hopefully it is left plugged in and the only videos are moving it around the parking lot.

You guys who say no physical violence take all the fun out of things. Nothing like a good old fashion pistol whipping to straighten out one's altitude. Or tie him up to a farmer's fence. Pull his pants down. Then bring over a new born calf and show it the funny looking tit to suck on.

Unfortunately, I have to be a good role model around here. It sucks to let someone else molest my Gladiator though.

We will see how it plays out.

I have an Apple AirTag in one of my other vehicles (stored in a garage away from my residence). Typically it shows within a few feet of the actual location. The worst I have ever seen was a house or two away from the actual garage.

Of course, others use may vary.

My airtag app showed my Jeep about 2 miles away from the shop last week. By the time I able to check on things, the airtag was showing back at the shop. The Jeep was in a different spot.

No work had been done yet. I did receive a call from the bodyshop asking if I had any updates on the approval. This was over a week ago. After sending an inquiry to the dealership and jeepcares, the dealership responded. They got the approvals for a new hood and tailgate. Not sure about the passenger doors. I updated Jeepcares and they responded immediately. They said they would see about expediting the shipment of the new panels.

The only time that I receive an update, it is right after I send Jeepcares a note. The dealership has been worthless. The bodyshop is no better, but I was told all communication would come from the dealership.
