I have the stock Firestone Destination MT2s with 14k miles. On the last wheeling trip 2 of the tread lugs ripped off and at least a third is partly ripped. Has anyone had a similar experience with these? Could this be a bad tire? @JeepCares could this be replaced as a warranty issue?

What? You went wheeling. There is absolutely no warranty on that are you serious lmfao. That's just what happens when there are sharp rocks.

That's like me telling Jeep to warranty my broken taillight that I smashed into my garage backing up.

That's pretty bad... Those tires chunk badly... It is kinda normal to get some chunking when wheeling, but, your firestone is terrible... The tire is basically gone... When you read reviews of tires, you will see some people rating the Chunking of tires, so, it is a known problem for some brands. Here is a pick of my Goodyear Kevlar MTRs at 24K miles with tons of low PSI off-road miles on rocks and boulders... I did a lot of Badge of Honor Rock trails with them at 12 PSI. They are known for Chunking, but, nothing like you experienced. My buddy also ran a set, and his chunked up worse.. Here is a pic of mine before I replaced them with the Yoko Geolandars MTs, which are a lot more pliable. The Yokos made it thorough the Rubicon trail and they still look pristine. No chunking.

? tire looks a bit dry already too??? Or is it just the photo-
Curious- were you aired down?? If not, 18psi is a good “starting” point. Airing down “helps” not to cut lugs off. Key words are help…. Tire spin is sometimes the inevitable and this is usually where chunking happens.

I have chunked Toyo MT's and Cooper MT's. A lot depends on the type of rock. Shale will chunk a tire. Red dog on a slate dump will destroy a tire.
