After calling the concierge, I got a bit more info.

Granite is being made last out of launch editions.

There is a reason, It is a more complex paint job. They can't simply go from granite to red, black, white, or silver. However they can go the other way, from red,white,black,silver - to granite. Hence it being in the back of the line. (I assume this has to do with the 'crystal' portion of the color name)

You cannot change paint color once you're VON has reached scheduled status.
Wish they would have told us that in the beginning. So last out of all the LE orders? Like still before normal orders?

Just spoke to the same line that is listed in the emails we got. She said looking at August delivery earliest and October at the latest for Granite like some others have confirmed here a few times.

I did also ask which were the most popular, to which the concierge replied red and granite.

here's to hoping there were 3,000 granites, and 1000 reds. 190 of the others.

That red is nice too! Can't wait for my Granite!

Based on @pilotpat 's attempt to change from Granite to White this AM, it does look like Granite is in pre-production (even if we don't have VINs, build dates, etc.). First JT off the line was silver. Some color has to be first, another one has to be last. No one said Granite would be the first LE built. Yes it looks like the Granites will be at the end of the LE builds, but right now they will still likely be built before any general custom order (since those banks still aren't open).
I have to admit, from the gitgo, my dealer said, “Delivery sometime between August and October.” I’m just an eternal optimist! ;{

Thank you Tanman for pulling “Hen’s Teeth” from FCA, and getting an explanation... FINALLY! ;{

'but right now they will still likely be built before any general custom order (since those banks still aren't open)'. Why do you assume that? I asked the concierge people this exact question and they said they cant guarantee that will happen and that I should check back in a month. Literally a month and they would know more! I am going to try and get my color changed, even though Pat wasn't successful. I will let you all know if I have any success. Even though I didn't expect to get the LE first, I did expect it to come sooner than 6 months after launch. So disappointed to date....

A few things:
  • As @pilotpat heard, Granite is in pre-production. So they are probably getting grilles, doors, roofs built in Granite for X number of LEs. Watch the production videos of the JL line to get a sense of the build process.
  • Most of the Granite LEs have been told to check back next week or in a few days. Haven't heard anyone say "check back in a month" except for you.
  • Order banks are not open for other custom orders (today). Was rumored to be Jan, then Feb, then Mar, then May. Latest is maybe May 9? If the Granite LEs get scheduled before order banks open, then they will be built before "normal" custom orders. If order banks open tomorrow, that could change the dynamics of build & delivery.
My dealer said to expect mine in August. If Granites start lining up in production behind the other LEs that were given build dates starting week of May 10 (say mid-late June for Granite?), then August is still reasonable.

The quote the FCA guys on the phone "just cause you ordered first doesn't mean it will get built first'. I heard so many disappointing things on the phone call I was just on I just about lost my sh*t. Which is unfortunate because these people are just doing their jobs. She definitely admitted to me that things had not been planned or executed well. "Dealers were supposed to know Granite was going to get built last" My dealer didn't know any of that and he literally had his meeting with FCA the day before....so many more mistruths. Sorry I am just venting now.

Im just happy I am getting the color I wanted, i can have a little patience. I knew going in to it that the granite was likely to be built later because it was initially a late availability and I was fine with that because if im going to spend as much as I am on a vehichle I am going to get the color I want. Just my 2c

Well my dealer is getting their first Gladiator tonight on the truck. Billet Silver Overland. They have two Red Overlands coming in the next week or so and a White Rubicon to be delivered around May 4th. I have first right of refusal on the White Rubicon if my Granite LE isn’t out of C status by mid week next week.

Week of May 4th for a White Rubicon only missing the front camera from my many many builds or wait till October for my Granite LE!?!?!

The dealers who cared to ask knew. The ones who didn’t know what a gladiator was until last Tuesday didn’t. The facts are if your dealer wasn’t up to speed it was his or her fault and partially your fault. We had a couple dealers who truly care about their customers (including @Travis@TriCityJeep ) tell us as early as 4/1 that granite was going to be at the back of the pact going into production as late as August.

Anyone who thought they were going to be the first to have a gladiator while offing a LE has done little to no research. It was originally rumored that some regular custom orders would be delivered before some LEs. This still may be the case of someone orders a standard color next week or two when order banks open.

I understand your frustration. A lot of people have been waiting for their for a while. I sold my JKUR over 3 months ago thinking it would be around this time when I would be taking delivery. The main issue is our American privilege and our need to have instant gratification now. I too suffer from this but was not willing to shell out the cost of a small house or a large boat for a LE when I don’t need all the bells and whistles. I mean really how soon will it be until you loose that 300$ speaker or it gets stolen when your top is off?

Maybe I’m just a hater because I haven’t ordered mine yet? Maybe I’ll join in on the griping when I order my white JTR on 2 weeks? If I do, please keep me in check and quote me this rant.

Sorry to lash out I just wanted to point out that all the writing was on the wall with ample time before you could order. You just had to do a little of the let work.

No offense bro. But you are way off base. The fact is my dealer and myself have been tracking this since November when it was first announced and virtually zero information has been provided. I have researched as much as others could I. Here.

Your concept of American privilege is also way off. Stop being so liberal. I earn my money and can spend it anyway I want. It is called capitalism. When a company offers a product and set expectations (even if it was just implied) then there is some expectations that they would meet what was stated.
