Hi All,
Trying to organize a trip up to Flagpole via Union Springs on 09/03/2022.
The current plan is to meet at Sheetz in Harrisonburg between 0900 and 1000:
1825 S Main St
Harrisonburg, Virginia
At 10:00 (or once everyone confirmed coming is accounted for) we will head out to the trailhead, and pull off so we arent causing a traffic jam to air down, disconnect swaybars and all that jazz. IIRC there is no good staging area at the bottom of Union Springs like there is on the Switzer Lake (Dunkel Hollow) side.
We will hit the trail, eat lunch at the knob, then depending on how the group is feeling, head out the Switzer Lake way or turn around and hit Union Springs the other direction.
This is definitely a more technical trail than Peters Mill for those of you who just did that trip, but its nothing a stock Gladiator cant do. Might touch a skid or your hitch do to our long wheelbase but nothing crazy at all. Its a lot of fun and is a super popular trail because of it. Definitely worth doing to say you did. Also has much better views than Peters Mill. If you're worried about pinstripes, I haven't been up there in the past couple years so dont know what to tell you. Maybe someone more familiar with the trail will chime in and let us know what to expect in that regard. Always expect the potential for some friendly handshakes with brush either way.
