Winterizing the RV at the end of the month. It has been a great summer.
No weird or excessive tire wear from flat towing. No cross country trips, but many many trips to the mountains and down to the Oregon Coast. We can't wait for next year.

Nice!
How much lift on Jeep and how much did you need to raise your hitch to maintain level?
I’m in the same scenario but went with 40’s

2.5" in the front, .75" in the rear. I have a small riser on the back of the motorhome. All depends on the combination. For example, a Fleetwood Bounder's 2" hitch is about 4-6" higher than mine.

Thanks Dave. The tow bar looked really flat in the first picture in post. Very encouraging to hear that you had success towing with the 37’s.
My gladiator is now on 40’s although completely set up to tow minus the riser I will need. I have to get the new weight to make sure I’m not going to be over gcvwr as well. Still have the 2 dr jk if needed and actually it’s probably the preferred just due to space and weight.

How much play do you have on the Maximus and the blue ox attachment.

Little to none. The Blue Ox adapters came with spacers/washers that take up the extra space between them and the Maximus-3 mounts, since they are a bit narrower than a standard shackle mount.

That is great news. I am on the fence with using Maximus or the Roadmaster hidden base plates. Cost between the two options is nil, I like the look of the Maximus. haven gotten our gladiator yet, should ship 10/14/21.

thanks again for the great info

Hey ghost. I’m using the road master. How Dave mentioned little to none, mine would be little to some. Keeping in mind that everywhere there is a joint or pin verses solid it typically adds space/room for movement.

Very true, I am currently towing a Ford Escape with a blue ox base plate and there is no space or gap at all, in fact it’s really tight. Dave’s photo showed the washer he is using, I would need to find a way to secure that or I would lose it. i don’t think leaving the washer out and leaving an open gap would affect the tow at all. I might be wrong.

To add, another thing that makes a world of difference is I added 2 hitch tighteners with my hitch riser set up. That cleaned up the receiver slop x 2.
Doesn't matter which system/tow bar you use.
No more clunking that I could feel before I added them.

I agree, I added hitch tightners and it made a huge difference.
