I wonder if the bolts can be replaced with pins?
This is going to really mess up storing the tow bar...

Well, nuts.
While I haven’t had a problem, I’ve only towed about 1,000 miles.
Just more money, I guess.

Here is the email response I got to the email I sent.

Subject: Re: MAXIMUS-3 TOWING TIE-ROD

The need for this additional product completely removes the advantage of the tow loops vs the blue ox base plate. With the tie rod installed I can not fold up and stow the blue ox tow bars. Is this additional rod needed only if using surge brakes or any braking system.?

I am very disappointed that this change is being made after I was sold on the tow loops being all I needed. Since I have already installed and modified my bumper to accommodate the loops and I don’t want to lose the ability to fold up the blue ox tow bars, is there a ā€œtie rodā€ that can be installed between the remaining two furthest holes in the loops themselves?

Thanks
Earl

This is only a recommendation. If you have a good working brake system that has no issues every then you wont need this but if it ever fails this will keep from damaging the tow loops an frame. We do not have a tie rod for the extra hole on the tow loops and we are currently working on the storage issues

based on the response I got and just posted, don’t spend more money yet. They are working on the storage issue. I am going to carry on as we have been, I’ve towed about 2000 miles so far and no visible issues. I will set my brake Buddy to be a little more sensitive than I currently have it set.

I am towing with a Nexus Ghost with air brakes and I don’t really need to have the supplemental system for normal braking, but I guess now I need it to maintain the connection integrity

While your coach may have sufficient brakes, many localities require at least a minimum of a breakaway braking system in the toad. I've had my Brake Buddy blow a fuse, and I didn't have any trouble stopping, but had there been a catastrophe...

I Agree, our is always on, just the sensitivity is set at 3, will move it to 4.

Good morning Dave
have you seen any issue with your tow loops. I saw where someone complained that they bent or cracked there frame. Someone else spoke of maximus now requiring a tow tie rod. i reached out to Maximus and received the documen that I attached. I’m not sure what my next step is.

just an FYI
EARL
I have not had any problems, and this is my third camping season coming up.
I see the benefit of the tie rod, but I am also not willing to give up the ability to stow the tow bar. Seems like hooking up the Jeep would become much more difficult as well.
I am also in agreement that a bar for the second holes of the loops would be much more convenient.
I guess until Maximus-3 comes up with a solution, I'll keep on going and hope for continued success.
I tow with an RVi3 brake.

I am gonna ditch the tow loops and go to a DEMCO base plate. We full time and can't be worried about this happening again. The TOW loops are $$$ to have this issue.

Your pictures above are frightening. I am now going to be staring at my camera and mirrors as much as my windshield. I am not very happy. The reason I went with the loops was due to my winch and the lower tow bar mounts for my lifted Jeep.
Time to look for an alternative. ☹

That what I would do constantly looking back , and every few hours would check the stability of the loops , for a while the bolts kept coming loose , I would locktite and still would come loose some how ..
i had to add lock washers. . .I just think to much force is added when you break pushing outward causing the issue..the lenght between the tow loops is 35 inches vs all the base plates roughly between 19 to 24 inches. I always felt that maybe the tow loops needed to be installed on the inside of frame not outside to minimize the distance. It was always an issue hitching up if I was off a bit due to the wide gap between the loops

Can you guys take a straight on pic of your tow hooks? Mine are bent outwards.. I took them off and heat treated them and they bent again... Side to side motion from the jeep is not easy on them but wondering if you guys just havnt noticed the bending yet... Top pic straight down from in front of the grill.. Would be nice.. Thanks
