I plan on Flat Towing my Gladiator. I was wondering if there is any extra maintenance that needs to be done? I don’t have the JT yet so I cannot refer to the owners manual.

Make sure the transfer case is in neutral.
Even if you have a manual transmission, shift the transfer case to neutral instead of the transmission.

Neutral transmission or neutral transfer case?

Either way, I don't know, but I do know you dont want to leave an automatic in neutral no matter what happens.

I don't know for sure..

I would think it stays disconnected and only becomes connected when its in 4wd.

Should be easy enough to find out by crawling under the car.

In order to get the transfer case into Neutral you first have to get into 4HI - does shifting into Neutral disconnect the 4HI AND disconnect the transmission, or just disconnect the transmission?

Shifting the tx case to N decouples the input shaft and the output shaft.

The front axle disconnect is an electrical servo or solenoid of some sort. I'm sure it looks for the signal to be in 4H/L and connects the axle.

Back to your original question, I was wondering the same thing. For me, I will be tracking the miles as TOAD miles. This will help with things that are worn based on travel not work. I'm thinking tire rotations, greasing and lubrication on the drive systems down side of the T-Cased, etc. Brakes included because the flat tow setup in most states requires an aux brake system.

Aside from that, I can't think of anything else given the engine won't be turning, and the coolant system won't be circulating. I am also fairly certain this shouldn't impact the transmission if done correctly. These are just opinion and not something I have found on any official documentation for the rig.
