Great too can't find Simms but found at croix for $15 and going order a couple thanks !Having a softop it will not work for me unless I mounted on the hard tonneau, but what I have done is use the the 2 piece rod tubes/holders. I rig my rods with the fly hooked to the reel , with a slight amount of slack in the line pull the 4 piece rod apart at the halfway point , lay the two sections next to each other with tip down by reel and then slide in tube. When I get to destinations simple pull out connect and go fish.
You maybe able to find one of these still somewhere https://www.flyshack.com/DisplayItem.aspx?ItemID=113565 , I got one on close out and also a couple single 2 piece ones
Nice! What length are the rods, assume beyond 8 feet can't fit in bed with tailgate closed?![]()
One of the first things I did when I brought my Willys home.
(1) 10’ stick 2” PVC
(2) Female adapters
(2) Clean-out plugs
(4) 2-hole straps
I cut a slot for the reel to hang down. Mounted to 2x6s in the bed. With the tailgate closed you can hardly see the reels.
They are 9’ rods folded in half like redfish does with his 2 piece rod tubes. I have made these with caps on both ends for rods that didn’t come with tubes.Nice! What length are the rods, assume beyond 8 feet can't fit in bed with tailgate closed?
