Fox 2.0 Shocks Narrower than Stock?

I bought front and rear Fox 2.0 shocks for my JT. 985-24-171 and 985-24-219. The bushing sleeves (the metal tubes) are narrower than those of the stock shocks by 0.050-0.0625" and I am warping the shock towers and brackets when I am torqueing them down. Is this how it is supposed to be?

No, the towers should not be deforming

Are you sure you are installing the correct shocks up front and shock body up? Maybe the installed sleeves are incorrect /shocks effectively defective?

Same thing with mine Bilstein shocks and steering damper. My body brackets aren't consistent either. Driver front has 1/4" play before torqued down.

Irritating, but sounds like maybe slipping a washer in there for proper spacing is the answer?

I had issues swapping my E-Cliks back on in the front brackets after having the Fox's installed for a year, but it was only maybe 1/16" and I just used a block and prybar to spread it a bit.

Yeah. I did thought about making a serrated spacer/washer so it's less likely to rotate with the bushing. But realized that the front shocks are vertical after the fact.

I called Fox and they said they aren't supposed to need spacers nor do they sell any. All four of them are a problem. Top and bottom on the rear and at least the top on the front (I stopped there). It is doubtful a problem with their parts given that both front and back are having the same problem. It is more likely they are designed this way.

I just got back from Home Depot with some stainless flat washers, 0.050 thick. The Fox shock sleeves are not serrated like the OEM ones are so I suppose flat washers will be fine (which is what Fox suggested I use). I had already completed the rear shocks before it started gnawing at me. I was starting on a front upper when I finally said whoa. I'll give the washers a try on the fronts and maybe I'll put them on the rear shocks, too, if I feel like doing the job for a second time.

That's about how narrow the Fox's are vs OEM.

The serrated bushing sleeve is to preventing it from spinning/rotating between the brackets as it shouldn't. All bushings sleeves should be stationary, the rubber bushing is what doing the flexing.

The 0.050" washers fit perfectly for the top towers. Bottoms were fine without. None of the hardware I removed was as tight as called for in the service manual. No surprise there. Next job will be to check torque on all front end parts.
