I’m running the EVO 1/4 pounder, you don’t cut the frame horns but you do chop the “tusks” that hang down then flip the swaybar motor up to gain a ton of room from the factory hanging down. Also to note the JL/JT frame horns are about 3/4-1” shorter in how are they stick out compared to the JK which is like cutting off the frame horns on a JK.

Oh baby, baby! :involve: That looks great, thanks for posting! :like:

Looking at the photos at the link provided, it looked like it sat on top of the bumper which wasn’t how it was described here and it wasn’t obvious in the description on their linked page (unless I am blind, which is possible according to my wife).

Edit: I figured out why I didn’t see it; the link above was to a different bumper. The stubby that has a recessed winch looks like this one: https://aceengineeringandfab.com/co...e-jt-expedition-series-stubby-bumper-bull-bar

Edit again: I don’t know where I read anything about a recessed winch in this thread until I brought it up. I think I’m losing it!
Im getting one at your link. I wanted to install my stock fog lights. It will match the white Jeep.

Do you feel by flipping the swaybar motor that you remove the need for the skid plate?

Yes because in order to install this bumper you must cut off the 2 mounts that the skid plate bolts up too. It’s pretty tucked away and much higher. It’s not 100% protected but I feel safe where it’s now located.

I realize this is an Ace bumper, but are you saying that the skid plate mounts to these two holes? Further, a factory skid plate may work with an Ace bumper as an example.

Yes it just might, but I haven’t tried to know for sure.

LOL, why wouldn't you just unbolt them instead of cutting them off?

I would have totally done that if they were a bolt on part but I have yet to find a tool that unbolts a welded part. The frame tusks are welded to the frame and hang down about 9” and must be less then 7” requiring 2” to be cut off.

OK, that isn't what the skid plate bolts to, that is what the bracket that the skid plate bolts to is mounted to.
