I'm looking to get some rock sliders. I thought about making some but I just don't want to mess with it.
I come from a more hard core rock crawling background where I had a dedicated offroad rig.

My question is how strong are the body mount rock sliders? I've always used frame mount sliders. Will the body mount sliders stand up to moderate beatings?

What would be the driving factor for you to opt for body mounted instead of frame? Is there a particular design you like in a body mount, price? Something else?

Depends on how they are mounted. As long as the load is spread out evenly, they hold up fine.
I had them on my last TJ and beat the living crap out of them and never dented the body.

My current TJ has frame mounted ones, so I have lost some ground clearance under the doors, but they are Jeeperman ones, so I am going to keep them.

Body mounted sliders tend to tuck up higher and have brackets that don't get caught on rocks as easily.

I have body mounted "enhanced rock rails" on my 2-door JKR (which mount similar to the JL/JT versions). They are ok for lighter hits or if you gradually load them. I've smashed mine a bunch, and they WILL flex enough to hit the rockers. The good news is that if you hit them hard enough, the rockers will self-clearance. The bad news is you will need to remove them to repair all the cracked & chipped paint on the rockers.

At the end of the day, it really depends on if you want to spend the little bit extra money now on frame mounted true sliders or spend a bit more later if you bash your body mounted ones a bit too hard and do damage to your rocker panel. I always recommend just going with the frame mounted ones for peace of mind. You won't have to worry as much and you'll be glad you went that route if you end up sending a bit too hard on a trail.

If it's price that is holding you back, I'd be happy to look at a couple options with you and try to find a good deal for ya. Shoot me a PM!
