Did some searching, and saw some issues with temp in the bed under the cover. I will need to either add the AC plug (Have a Mojave with factory inverter) or run a line for DC. So want to plan what I will get, and what I need. Preferably not wanting to spend too much as we won't use it much, looking for recommendations that work well in the bed under bed cover.

Additionally is there any way to help vent the air out to help with letting it not get too hot for the fridge?

I have a generic 25liter 12volt refrigerator from Amazon that Ive run under the tonneau cover many times and never had a problem.

Portable fridges are really awesome but id take a yeti or one of the many clones over one all day long for seldom use. even the best fridges will only work for so long and it matters little how much of that time it was in use.

Yea, some of the things I am seeing I am debating about getting a better cooler and just buying ice. But nice to not have to need ice and could use it for groceries. Will see if anyone else have any good ideas.

Personally I cant stand coolers. Buying ice before every trip, buying more ice halfway through a trip, soggy food, having to dig through ice blindly searching for what you packed. Which especially sucks while winter camping, getting your hands ice cold and wet is no fun.

i just personally do not enjoy the experience. Maybe for an overnight trip or 2 days it would be fine for me.

You say you're not looking to spend much which doesn't exactly jibe with portable fridges. Even the ICECO ones are not cheap. I personally love mine though and like others, can't stand digging through ice searching for what I need nor soggy food.

I run an Engle MR040 under my soft tonnea cover. I added the bed outlet to run it although I wish I also had a 12V option there too. I understand it's more efficient to run them that way vs. thru 120v and an inverter to convert back to 12V.

I just did a trip and I did notice my cooler temps climbing a little which is unusual. I stopped and checked on it and it seemed to cool back down. After my second stop it looked like the plug had worked loose so I "think" that was the cause of my rising temps since after that it stayed nice and cool. Make sure you keep the vents around the fridge clear so it can circulate air. Also a tip: I use my bluetooth temp. gage probes that I use for smoking ribs and such I put one probe in the fridge and then bring the remote readout into the truck with me, that way I can monitor the temps while driving.

I filled two good sized tupperwares to ~ 80% and taped the lids down. One I toss in a day or two before using to pre cool it and then I swap in the fresh one. Holds fridge temps for 5-6 days in the desert if its not in direct sunlight. I like iced coffee and a couple cubes in campfire beversges so I do carry a gallon zip with ice as well. That lasts ~ 3 days. Not perfect but its simple and after 3 days of riding im not the only one thinking I need a shower lol
