Hello all. I am a new member from South Carolina. I just picked up my Gladiator Rubicon in White. I wanted to order a front trail camera for my Gladiator and no one at the dealership can answer if it can be added to the car. Any help would be much appreciated.

It's not available from Mopar (yet?). You could add an aftermarket one and a Tazer though.

The obvious question immediately to mind is Why Didn't you order it when ordering ? Or did you buy it off the lot ? Shit, I thought the Rubicon editions all came with it ! IT SHOULD !
. . . and JEEP, if your "listening" (ha) . . . the Front Camera NEEDS TO BE STANDARD ON THE RUBI, AND OFFERED AS A STAND ALONE OPTION ON ALL OTHER MODELS . . . period . Any 'dummy" who does any sort of "off road" shit-nanigans gonna need that SAFETY DEVICE ! So MAKE IT HAPPEN. WE HERE ALL NEED TO EMAIL JEEP AND MAKE THIS THOUGHT KNOWN . . . imho !

It is a good question, Even if you could add it, would the touch screen system be able to read it? Software update maybe?

Before I got confirmation I could get an LE I was looking at one of the available Rubicons on the lot. None of them came with the Front Trail cam and I specifically asked about buying it and installing it as an accessory. It took a while to get the answer from the dealer, but they did come back and tell me that it could be installed.

However, I'm not confident in that answer. I would want to see under the hood to confirm if the connector and water supply are both easily available. Anything can be done, but I would want it to be plug and play. Not overly labor intensive.

Have you popped the hood to see if the connector(s) are there?

Curious as to why you think the camera is needed as a safety device. People have gone decades without this and have been OK. If crawling, use your spotter. If going solo, you're doing it wrong.

Not sure why Jeep would ever include this as standard when they don’t even include things like door sills!

If and when Mopar adds the camera to their list of accessories, how much do you guys think it will cost?! LOL!
I actually thought I saw an aftermarket one a company was selling for the Wranglers but don't remember where I saw it now.

The simple fact Jeep touted this as the best thing since sliced bread. (Trail cam) I agree this fancy pants thing should be standard on a Rubi.
At this price point (Rubicon) for an off road vehicle, it should be there.
Jeep is supposed to stand out from the crowd. C’mon Jeep your marketing team opened the door you better shut it properly!
I know it’s been said but they did not have their ducks in a row when Gladdy was launched. All that being said can’t wait for my Overcon/Rubiland/.... My Sting!

I've been wheeling solo around Moab since I bought my Scrambler in 1982. The notion that solo wheeling is wrong is simply absurd. You just need to be prepared...as you should be for any outdoor adventure. I look forward to using the front camera on my Gladiator.

Running trails you know solo shouldn’t be an issue, it’s when you are going new places that a partner is super helpful. Sometimes it’s just so you have someone to joke with to take the edge off the shitty moments.

As for the camera, I’ll have to dig but my Ag buddy recommended a unit he put on to to watch his three point, full color HD in most light, IR with image amp for darkness and it’s basically an armored cube so you could mount it nearly anywhere. Watch this space.

Water and mud.

Nobody is getting out and goind wading to spot you.

As for safety, for every Rubicon that ever has the sway bar disconnected, there are 10,000 that are being used in congested "urban" conditions. More visibility is always safer under those conditions. Call it a Mall Cam if you want.

The Trail Cam and winch capable front bumper should be standard on a Rubicon. Add it to the base price and call it a day. I bet base Rubicon constitute less than 1% of Rubicon sold.

Jeep knows what they're doing. Smart business. They set it up as an option because they make more money that way. If you select the trail cam as an add on for $595, you also have to add the LED group ($995) and the 8.4" NAV premium sound system ($1595). So that brings it to $3000 if someone wants the trail cam. As far as I know, you can't order the cam as a stand alone item.

Have to have the 8.4” uconnect (7” doesn’t have extra input hook up for the extra video feed) if you have the 8.4” radio I would suggest looking under the hood as earlier mentioned and see if the empty socket on the harness is there. Probably is. They use one basic harness for the trucks and have different sockets along the harness at various points to hook up all the possible options. If you buy with options a,b,d,f,g&h.... c&e sockets are there, just unused but each of the options you have plug straight into their assigned sockets on the canbus system and the computer connects them together.

The system can support multiple heads, cameras are heated and have sun shields, the software will allow multiple streams simultaneously , the grid system is adjustable to your needs.

You could in fact go crazy.
