The ratchet strap is for when you have the length already set and you need to remove and reinstall the bar for some reason.

When you initially install it, you can put it to whatever length makes it easy, adjust it to center on the truck, then lock it in place.

Just finished up was not hard at all, I ended up doing the steering wheel method. Just had someone hold the steering wheel, and after a bit of measuring, we are set and centered. Thanks, everyone

I disconnected the adjustable side of the track bar. Once I measured and centered. I extended it and put the bolts back in. Took me about 30 minutes.

I’m surprised no one has asked/mentioned this:

When you got it lifted or lifted it yourself, did you go get it aligned? I would think that would be the last step in MC’s instructions. They should recheck tow in, check axle centering and if you have adjustable front upper or lower control arms, it’s critical they reverify caster and adjust the CAs accordingly. Basically by adding adjustable control arms you’ve added caster to what can be adjusted. Lifts that use drop brackets also have a caster adjustment via interchangeable washers for the CA bolt but you set it and forget it. You can’t change camber without a saw and welder ?. If I had an adjustable track bar and had it aligned and my axle was off center afterwards, I’d be raising hell with the shop that did it.

I did the lift myself and took it to the shop to get it aligned once I center my steering wheel I’m going to see if it pulls to the left or right and if so I’ll just take it back for an alignment

They should definitely do a track bar adjustment/axle centering as part of an alignment. Some shops, especially ones that mostly do IFS will slack off and not do it unless you push them.

I did the lift on mine too and then took it to a shop. There wasn’t much to do alignment wise since it was an AEV lift with stock control arms and trackbar. But my axle was always out of center just a hair because, despite what AEV says, the stock track bar is too short with their lift. My dealership later installed a Synergy bar recentered the axle and aligned it for free because they owed me one. I actually sort of prefer Jeep dealerships for alignments, especially if they cater to the modded crowd.
