I've noticed 2-3 times now with my JTR that If i hit a speed bump, or a quick dip in the road or something like a pot hole that the front end makes a clunking noise. It doesn't seem to be the initial impact but rather right after when i suspect the suspension is rebounding to full extension.

Is this just the sway bar maxing out, or maybe the shocks fully extending or something?

Front end noises are SOOOO hard to figure out, especially without being there.... Your shocks should be nowhere near full extension unless you lifted it (like, more than 2") and didn't replace the shocks

First question: can you feel it through the steering wheel, or only hear it?

Like i said, it's only happend a few times and its so infrequent i forget to focus on the sound until its to late.

I have the factory mopar 2" lift.

There's a dip in a local big box store parking lot that can make it happen. To spooked to try it intentionally again!! It sure seems like it was the Jeep was rebounding and everything above the suspension wanted to keep traveling upwards and then it maxed out.

I have the MOPAR lift and my front end makes no noise like that... something is loose, it's not the sway bar or shocks hitting any limit.

Take a jack and lift the JT from the frame on one side, letting the front tire/axle droop to their max (the sway bar limit). You'll see there is a LOT of downtravel available - much more than hitting a pothole or dip in the road would allow them to move.

EDIT: If that's your current JT in your profile pic, you can see how much travel there is!

Have you had everything re-torqued since install? I had an occasional front end clunk and found my sway bar links were loose. A quick quarter to half turn stopped the noise.

That's a problem I had earlier this year - sway bar wasn't "I can grab it and wiggle it" loose but wasn't as tight as it should have been, so it got re-torqued and that sound went away.
I noticed it when driving out of my garage and the tires dropped the half inch from the garage floor down to the driveway and the suspension rebounded just a bit.

There is one speed bump near my house that does this, I had dismissed it initially but your post makes me want to look into it more. Iā€™m on a Clayton 3.5 lift.

Sway bar end links clunk quite a bit if they are not torqued properly. I would start there.

I had this same issue. Check the clearance b/t your spring and bump stop.

I donā€™t but it was pretty clear to see the spring was sitting too close to the bump stop causing them to touch while driving over speed bumps and things of that nature.
Ooooh ok now I understand what you mean. Thatā€™s my bad haha, wouldnā€™t expect thereā€™d really be a measurement for that šŸ˜‚
