Has anyone used the Armadillo Bag for fuel instead of the traditional plastic containers? Technically illegal in the US (?) but have seen it in use by motorcyclists who use the smaller bag. Comes in 1, 2, 3 & 5 gallon. Pros are it can be easily strapped down and then rolled up and stored away when not in use. Typically use the extra fuel early instead of when needed so it would usually be a very limited time for actually storing the fuel and then not having to keep the empty containers taking up space. Curious if there is anyone who has used them and, if so, any issues...with the bag or with gas stations/LE when trying to fill? They are more expensive but the storage and space saving when empty are big benefits (for me).

Alaska Gear also makes a 5gal bag, for aircraft but will work for a Jeep. High quality. Not familiar with the Armadillo bag.

I have the 1gal for my motorcycle. I bought it in early 2022 for a trip to Moab. Used it every day we were there, rode some rough stuff with the bags full of fuel. Easy to strap with the built in loops. There was 2 of us with the 1 gallon versions. Filling the bag is a little finicky until you get a rhythm. The spout it came with works great. We'd ride until we used a little over a gallon, then pour the bag into the bikes. I use mine regularly on longer rides.
I'd buy another again and regularly recommend them to my riding buddies. I've even thought about getting a bigger one for our side by side.
Never thought about one for the Jeep, but if range was an issue, why not.

More likely a problem with FD or gas station personnel than PD. I had a FD guy trying to give me shit about filling fuel cans on my Jeep in the past. His logic was the metal fuel cans in a metal rack attached to metal bumper wasn't grounded... I was like the fuel tank. 🤔
I was a LEO there even, he was really butt hurt with my point of I put gasoline in a gas tank mounted the same.

I use the 5 gal Armadillo bags and attach them to the molle in my bed with straps. I like them better than the rotopax I have, just seems like less fuss. No issues in the past 3 years with them.

Bags arrived...can you post a pic of how you secure them when in use and what straps you use? I also just installed molle panels along front of the bed and have the trail rail system. Not sure where I will secure these so any additional insights from someone who has already done it would be great.

Compression Straps or cam buckles straps will do the job
