Believe it or not, last December, I took the suspension/axle/brakes for both axles apart. I am constantly refining the setup which I use for long drives then overland drives, mostly out west from my home base in Kentucky.
I got a lot of the suspension done, then decided I had better truss the front axle, so I ordered the Artec truss set. All in all, I think I pulled the suspension apart a couple of times and am not quite satisfied. Having removed the rear bags, I am going to reinstall them and add a spacer to compensate for the big weight differences.
Realizing I was gambling on the stock axles, I ordered a set of Randy's rear axles and RCV FAD axles for the front. After a month, the RCVs were delayed until March!!! I didn't want to reassemble everything just to have to disassemble it all again. Well, March came and went with another promise for April, then that passed, and I had a June promise for delivery.
The RCV axles finally arrived in early July, and guess what??? They were the wrong set! I got a heavy box of non-FAD axles for a Dynatrac front axle!!!!!
It is now too late to salvage this for some time, as I am about to blast off on our summer truck camper trip to the West Coast.
To add to my concerns, I am running Yukon 5.13 gears that I had installed in 2022, the period when the Chinese gearsets were manufactured.
The Yukon gears are a concern because I am thinking that I am going to have a Hemi 5.7 installed by AMW. The cost of the 392 is prohibitive in my view, and I have no need for 500 horsepower. I could use a solid truck engine in the 400HP range that gets me a hundred foot pounds more torque and eliminates the cam fail problem of the 3.6.
Just sharing thoughts and venting a little.
