Gladiator Camping (Temporary Setups)

I drive my Gladiator daily for work, and an RTT or other camper just won't work. I regularly have to park in height restricted parking garages and a RTT won't fit and I need a full height rack.

I came up with this on my last deer scouting trip. It needs refinement, but eventually, it will be awesome. I move camp every night. I have the Rebel XPLOR rack and the original Molle Hatch. I bought a WHITEDUCK Canvas 18oz Tarp (Cut Size: 10'x14', Finished Size: 9'6"x13'6") and just threw it over the top. It is almost the perfect size. It rained and snowed hard and it kept the water off me and the heat in. I took it to the upholstery shop and they are going to cut it, sew it, and add velcro straps so it fits perfect.

i just take my tent off and store it in the garage ive had mutiple setups i just built a little pully system then it hangs in the garage. the truck bed tent isnt bad but its just small. im 6'2 and it wasnt my favorite.

how high is your garage? with 35s, rubicon springs and the GFC it just barely fits in the garage and i have a low ass door. if you can find a used GFC superlite that might work. its really really low profile

What might be a cool DIY would be adding snaps to your roof rack and then cutting some canvas panels, then for the door you could thread a rod through the bottom so it stays closed on its own. I don't know how tall you are that probably won't work.
I love a good DIY. I would try to figure out a way to turn the rack frame into a tent frame. Somehow way easier said than done but worth a thought

Easiest might be to empty your bed.. put a camper shell on it.. and get a Topper Tent. It's a tent that zips up with your tailgate and hatch open, so you can sleep under the camper shell. Like a LEER, ARE, Smartcap, etc.

Check out Harker Outdoors. Maybe more money than you want to spend, butnthey have a neat canopy that utilizes the tailgate to increase the usable space in the bed.

I would think a couple of SeaSucker connection points and a Hammock tarp would work well.

If you've got a garage, you can mount the tent so it's as temporary or permanent as you want it to be, and quickly removable. I can drop this on or pull it off in less than 5 minutes and it's as secure as any other setup when on:

Awning tent could work for you...

The photo makes it look like the awning is overhanging at the back of the truck, but it's not.. Anyhoo, it's a pretty low profile setup (less than 4" above the cab height).

It's always weird when you recognize someone because you've seen them naked. Even in a Jeep video they've got everything out.

Edit: They still have the 79" and 99" Walls available... might be able to adapt to another brand awning if they have the c-channels on the front and back extrusions.
