I misunderstood your post then. I thought you meant hammock inside the JT diagonally.
looking back to the post from @Mad Mat , I think he was referring to using 1 tree to the bed rack; that's an interesting idea. Ironically, I was looking today for a portable hammock stand that would also support a rain fly, but didn't find one.

I have a hammock rack that goes into a 2” receiver. So far it’s just been used by the kids for daytime stuff while camping.

Yeah, I’ve seen that hammock rack. If it is the same one, It’s like $400. Which is kind of crazy in my mind, for what you actually get. I am working on a DIY solution similar to this.

As to a previous post, yes, I was referring to attaching one side of the hammock to my rack and the other to a tree.

I have actually camped in my hammock near the jeep in 15° f weather. There was 5-6 inches or snow on the ground. If you’ve got the right set up, it’s super toasty.

Mine was not close to that cost. Mid $100’s of if I remember right. That sounds like a super fun way to camp.

If you have a name or a link to what you purchased, I’d be super interested.

Yeah, I will never go back to sleeping in a tent now that I’ve slept in a hammock.

I’m from New Mexico. I’ve met and married a Northern girl from Michigan. That’s where we live now. I grew up being used to well over 100° during the warmer months. Now I can’t stand being hot and I’d rather camping close to freezing degrees. Doesn’t help to have gained a little weight since my youthful days.

If anybody is interested in seeing the hammock set up, I’d be more than happy to post a picture. It’s not much different from the pictures that were previously posted.

I’ll look for it. I don’t remember where I got it.

Yeah, that is the one I was thinking of. $500 is a bit thick. I think I will continue to pursue a less costly DIY solution. :D
There's also one that mounts on the tow hitch too. Could always have one locally fabricated.

A couple of sticks of UniStrut or perforated 2x2 tubing and hardware and bolt something together or use quick release pins for expedient deployment and breakdown.

Not ideal, but it works just fine. Then again I got it brand new (open box deal) for $15 so it's kind'a disposable experiment that surprised me in a good way. The quality is just Ok, don't think it'll last years of actual use but it'll do for now until I decide the next phase. The good news is that it deploys in like 5 minutes... I've used it down into the 30s temp wise and I just have 4 top shelf premium sleeping bags that have different temp ratings so I grab the most suitable one.

And it gets me to places that have THIS as my coffee view from my campsite.
