Alright, let's see some campers for the Gladiator! Posted are examples of Jeep Gladiator campers and other ideas.

Follow along my journey as I build my own Pop Top Camper, pictured below! Thanks to everyone in this forum for their thoughts, ideas, contributions, and most importantly their inspiration, as I make an idea come true.

If you love Gladiators, grab some coffee and enjoy.

Mess Kit and cooking:

Mess Kit:

The $7 Harbor Freight tool bag works out nicely for my mess kit, and fits in my kitchen cabinet.

The little round electric pan/griddle pictured also works as an electric plate for my coffee pot. The pockets in the tool bag are great for keeping the utensils organized.

Option #1 Electric:

With this electric setup I don't have to worry about cooking breakfast indoors or cooking indoors if the weather is bad. I can also cook outside on the tailgate if I want.

Option #2 Fire:

I try to carry some charcoal and a hatchet to start a fire in the evenings. It just doesn't feel like camping if I can't cook brats, steaks, or burgers on the campfire at night. I have a small folding cooking grate to put over the fire, if there's not a fire pit available.

Option #3 Cowboy Wok / Discado::

I'm still working on this. It works great for large groups, but is simple too large to lug around if I'm camping by myself. I'd like it a lot more if I got a smaller Disc and a 5lb propane tank. It makes a nice table though and is awesome for fajitas or a big breakfast!

Has anyone seen a Gladiator with a Wilco Offset Hitch mounted spare yet? Or has anyone found a reasonably priced hitch mounted spare option? I still want to mount a 38" spare to the back of my Gladiator, but don't want to spend $4,000 to do it.

I'd like the spare to be on the passenger side to offset the weight of my kitchen and water tank on the driver side of my truck. I also don't want to replace my stock gladiator bumper just to mount a spare.

I have one that I bought to use with my truck camper for our Alaskan trip a few years ago,

It is expensive but it does work very well. The biggest thing you may want to consider is the weight of that beast. It’s heavy!

Having said that I may consider selling it. DM me if interested..

Awesome and it looks like it is offset to the passenger side!! Any pictures with it on your Gladiator? I'm trying to see where the tire will set and figure out what to do about my license plate, turn signal, and backup camera.

Here's a video with a RiGd swing. I like the swing out, but these are pricey.

I don’t have any on My Gladiator. Both the tire carrier and my Glad are currently in VA. I will be going back there in a couple of weeks and could take a picture of it if you’re interested…

I'm still interested in building a 270 awning for my camper, but for now I created this cheap tarp system for about $35 plus some tent spikes I already had. I bought heavy duty screw together tent poles because the pieces were short enough to get in this small tool bag.

$7 tool bag
$12 10' x 12' tarp
$15 screw together tent poles
Rope, bungees, and tent spikes

One other nice thing about a cheap tarp/tent. When the National Forest doesn't accept reservations for that beautiful camp site you finally found in the mountains, you can mark your spot with the tarp when you get there in the morning. Then take your rig exploring for the rest of the day.

Here’s another camper. Impractical for my use (narrow trails among rocks and trees) but interesting. Only one pic of a JT I could find. I think I would rip the sides open.

Very interesting. A $5,500 aluminum camper shell. They solved the 5ft. bed problem by sleeping across the bed. I'm with you on the width. I need my Jeep to be skinny. My Jeep trails are already too narrow. My camper is two feet narrower and I have to trim too many tree limbs as it is.

Another good idea is to bring a limb pole saw while 4 wheeling/camping.

I need to get one of those electric limb saws, my arms get tired.

Finally got out and tested the new setup. RTT, awning, cooler, solar generator - Really liking the simplicity and compact designs.

I've had too much coffee this morning. I'm thinking that if I cut a quarter section out of this 13ft. diameter patio umbrella material, throw in a center hinge and some fiberglass rods for ribs, I'll have a very light weight, extremely cheap DIY 270 awning. I love coming up with DIY solutions from cheap materials.
