Good to see someone taking on management of the forum threads, organization and agree that multiple threads sometimes confuse or muddy true issues. (HVAC..........)

My partner and I who started our forum over 12 years ago brought in a team of even-handed moderators who help clean things up - DELETE old wanted or for sale threads after xx days, merge multiple threads that cover the exact same topic, have a place for links to the posts that answer specific questions, and we have a "how to" area....... someone comes up with a way to resolve an issue, and if that way is deemed "THE" answer, then it gets to be a sticky (window auto-up comes to mind - so it doesn't get lost)
We have a former marine and border guard, Lutheran minister, school teacher, telecom tech guy as the mods and Ian and I were able to step back and relax. The mods created rules, stickies, do clean-up and it's become mostly self-policing. Two other similar forums blew themselves apart after we started - so we had some ticked off people joining and giving us crap at first, but that settled down, they blamed us. Hey, we just operated better and were more friendly to ALL - beginners, hard-core racers, whatever.
I've seen similar on multiple jeep forums. The best ones follow a pattern and I'd like this to be the best Gladiator forum. One of the reasons this is the only place I keep a build thread is to guide people here when they ask questions online. Quality content builds a quality community.

I know we have butted heads occasionally and I'd like to let you know that wont happen going forward. If we have to have a disagreement we can keep it to PMs so the rest of the forum isn't drug into it.

Hey @WhatExit? and others. Shoot me a PM if you see something that needs to be merged with another thread or is against the forum policies. I'm helping Jay try and keep an even keel around here now. After discussing it with him and reviewing the issues brought up in this thread we have come up with a game plan to bring a balance to the complaints vs content sides of the forum.
We have no intention of trying to cover up legitimate issues. At the same time, we want to make sure that the overwhelming theme of the forum should not be the airing of grievances. To that end the issues threads will be rerouted to the issues subforum and similarly themed issues will be merged into the parent thread for that issue. I know I've butted heads with a couple of you on a few things but know that this will never affect my impartiality where the actual use of the forum is concerend. I have been a moderator for many Jeep forums over the years and I value open honest discussion and debate.
Thanks. I hope you and the others clean this place up in terms of BS threads and duplicate threads.

There's a relatively new thread from January 4th that needs to die a swift death or be merged with one of the other threads on "loose steering" https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/loose-steering-easy-fix.26285/

And I have serious doubts about the OP of that thread - he's done some strange stuff to his Gladiator's suspension in addition to running 40" tires.

I almost missed this - my loss had I missed.
Virtual hand-shake offered up. I'm all in. More later, but off-line.

Agreed on all counts quoted above.

Looks to me like it's time to open this thread up and dust it off...

Threads about being unhappy with "poor quality control" when the dealer delivered it to him that way. And a bed product that had a broken piece in the box is a POS. The new threads and posts complaining keep coming... :puke:

I get that it's a new vehicle and it should be "perfect" and for some who have never purchased a brand new vehicle before it's stressful and costly. For sure many have never purchased a new Jeep  before but it's clear that in this social media world we live in people need to have their complaints heard.

I'm sure glad I don't do business on the internet and hope that people fairly review products and services...

Here's a good "quality control" one for ya. A friend of mine over near Chicago used to work in a company that made electronic components for auto makers. I believe he was referring to relays used by an auto maker headquartered outside of the USA in this case. They had a fairly new guy doing QA. The idea was to test the relays. They were having a large number of relays coming back. After much research they traced the failing relays back to this inspector. What he was doing was testing them and if they failed, he'd keep testing and if he could get it to pass, then he'd make it ok. Where most folks would test and if it failed once it was done - in his case if it passed once it was ok.
So, folks, anything made by people (and that means pretty much anything) is likely to be imperfect because, well, it's made by PEOPLE.
And if you say - yeah, but it's made by robots and computers and such - uh, who made and programmed the robots and computers, eh? DUH.
Even jets costing millions of dollars have flaws.
Mercedes is recalling 750,000 cars because the sunroof could FLY OFF! good grief. That's three quarters of a million cars. Imagine your sun roof flies off and hits the Smart car behind you and kills the driver. Hmmmm. Fun.

@WhatExit? said: "Looks to me like it's time to open this thread up and dust it off"... I read through this entire thread last night and thought about it. When I first found this site, I read a lot before I ever joined and started posting. Therefore, I don't think I asked a question that had already been answered a couple of times. Therefore, I believe having a few read me first threads may help. Having a few common sense rules may help. That way search first, personal attacks and complaining can be addressed up front. Lastly this is a great forum!!! I saved a ton of money when buying my Gladiator because of this forum. There is great information here. A large group of core posters. Some with good humor too. Some members that that have a life time of jeep experince. Some with extensive knowledge of being a vehicle mechanic. Then there are few rotten apples. So my suggestion for a few read me first ground rules may help but it won't fix stupid!
IT'S ALL GOOD! ;)

Nicely said. One thing I can tell you is that the search function is bi-polar. I actually get better results when I try to start a new thread and put in the title, it'll give suggestions of similar threads that the search results don't seem to find.

Example, I searched for the word Mojave in "title only" and got 1 result.....So i started writing up a mojave vs rubicon thread and low and behold, there was a thread called that exact same thing already made........ I now search for Mojave and find 5 threads with the word in the title. No rhyme or reason to it.

That's why i chuckle when people say "USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION NEWB!". They very well could have and the search algorithm just sucks.......:movember:

This is such an elitist thread.

People from different backgrounds come to this thread seeking guidance and knowedge from others who share the same interest. Granted, some may not be as technically inclined to use the search function of this forum. However - "Shaming" new forum/Jeep owners for not using the search function is not the answer from supposed "Jeep Purist."

The problem are "Jeep Purists" who think they are too good to help new Jeep owners out and hoping to "dilute/police" them out of this forum. For fuck sake, a few of you here are so full of yourselves.
You called it.....

thanks for wasting our time and continuing this to another thread. No wonder the search function doesn’t work well... threads are all over the place.

No, I've made several projects to help keep threads organized. Threads are not all over the place.
I made a nice set of shelves a few years back that fits with the floor to ceiling fabric shelving I made for my wife's quilting room (pic below) and more recently made a clever cabinet with tilt-out racks for embroidery threads to increase the storage capacity by about 20% while taking less space. There are two doors each with similar tilting racks to double the storage space.
So - threads are not all over the place, they are in two rooms now depending if they are for the long-arm quilting machine, embroidery, or other sewing. Also keeps the cats from dragging them around.

Starter of thread is right. I love this car with all its little specials. I call them features, not bugs.
my windscreen cracked some 10 inches long without any visible impact at 9.000 mls. So what‘s the deal? Its a jeep. I‘ll hafe that repaired with the next service unless the entire screen falls out…
Lokks like this forum separates the boys from the men….

Folks myself having owned a jeep dating back to 1979.I think this is my ninth jeep vehicle.
I have obtained a lot of knowledge from all of you. I do laugh at some of the forums like MPG, if I was looking for 50 mpg I would have bought a HONDA. Its a jeep ,I burn premium fuel .Truck has been back to the dealer more times then it should. I cant bitch ,they did not build it but they have corrected everything so far. Replaced radio, left turn signal housing, front brakes & calipers, rear brake noise ,pulling to the right - actually going back MONDAY for same reason, came back two days after picking it up.We are all brothers with one thing in common JEEP .We are not two the same, that would make for a dull world. We already live in a screwed up world but we can jump in our jeeps and excape from it all. Yes I don't use spell check ,yes I am not computer savvy but I do love JEEPS and what they represent FREEDOM.So thank you all for the knowledge you have passed on even if they are duplicated.I just skip over them and find what I am looking for.

I have no qualms with anything said on this thread. Want you to think about this: The Jeeping Community is about Technical Stuff and about Spirit. Yes, I have seen numerous new threads started by new members that are already addressed elsewhere...shame, they should do a little research. I have made comments to various thread that in hindsight don't really contribute to the technical conversation. The technical data/information provided by our forum members is invaluable...can't be replaced by books, magazines, utube videos, etc....and its free. But, I have also enjoyed threads like the bourbon you like best, trail running, rock crawling, overlanding, etc....not technical. This forum brings a massive number of folks together for one reason...Jeeps. But all of us have our unique reasons for visiting. Upon retirement I will be overlanding full time: I search for technical data in support of my plans; I look for the "how-to's" from my Jeep Brothers and Sisters; the "what-not-to-do's"; navigation aides, what to replace/what not to replace; good vendors; and if there is a good bourbon distillery close to where I am visiting. Could the forum be improved...anything can be perfected...but, don't lose the Jeeping Spirit...it's priceless and once lost would be hard to regenerate. Thanks for all you do, Have a Great Christmas and a Happy New Year (but, not too happy, cause I'm out of bail money)! TCGB
