The Toyota Land Cruiser has had full time 4WD since the 1990s. Jeep also has a similar system, Quadratrack. It's not a new idea or new technology.
So is there no binding when turning, and if not, why isn't this a thing in 4WD vehicles that use part-time 4WD?

They use either a viscous coupling center diff or clutch packs to allow enough slip to avoid binding. It's added complexity and expense, and you still need to lock the center diff for decent off road performance.
