Things I am glad to have on my Gladiator:
  1. The 8-speed automatic is just awesome; the 6-speed auto on my Tacoma was trash. The Chrysler transmission is always in the right gear; the Toyota transmission was always in the wrong gear. Where the Chrysler transmission is smart, quick and refined, the Toyota transmission was stupid, slow and abrupt.
The reason behind the "Chrysler" transmission's effectiveness, quick shifting, refined character, and excellent reliability is that it is made by ZF in Germany. The transmission is shared with the likes of all-wheel-drive BMWs, Aston Martins, and Alfas. One of the advantages of Stellantis being a European/international manufacturer.

The biggest feature I'm jealous of is the A-Pillar mounted mirrors on the Bronco. Being able to remove the doors and still have the factory power mirrors would be huge.

As others have noted, a 360° parking camera system would add tons of situational awareness on technical trails. Maybe they can integrate the side cameras into the base of the new A-Pillar mirrors, lol.

This is purely subjective, but the driver's seat and seating position in my JTR are some of the worst I've experienced. The seating position in my old 2004 Tacoma was way more natural and comfortable, and I dearly miss the bolstering and overall ergonomics of my WRX seats. With the JT, I dread long days behind the wheel.
yeah i love my Mojave seats but they sit way to upright and semi like for me. I've been looking at DesertDoesIt seat slammers to fix that.

I thought the gasoline Gladiators have a ZF design built under license by Stellantis, the diesel trucks get a ZF built in Germany.

I thought the gasoline Gladiators have a ZF design built under license by Stellantis, the diesel trucks get a ZF built in Germany.
its the same hardware. The only difference really would be ratings and QC.

If that's accurate, why have two different model numbers, 850RE for the 3.6 and 8HP75 for the 3.0? the ratios are the same, but there has to be some difference between them given the different torque numbers on the diesel.

It’s just an HP850 but with a different bell housing as mate to a 3.6 instead of a zbMW 4 cylinder

I’ve always had jeeps ranging from CJ-5 (you can fix anything with a half inch or 9/16) to a Mojave. So I can’t say the one Jeep I’d like to have back is my 1978 Cherokee chief 401.

Truth, my 18' manual forester burned half a quart every 1500 miles from new. That increased to a quart every 1k, especially in the summer. Suby replaced the block at 59k for oil consumption then I sold it. That engine was a dog too. Struggled to keep speed up West Virgina hills, I'd have to rev it to 4,500 to hold 60mph.

I rented a Tacoma this past weekend, probably a 22/23, TRD-Off Road with the V6, what a shitbox powertrain. It was noisy, inconsistent and seemed to fight everything I asked of it. I don't think I've experienced a more obnoxious engine. I couldn't believe my 3.6 JTR felt so much more responsive.

That problem has largely been resolved with the phasing out of the EJ engine architecture.

Well, I just traded a 2024 Silverado LT 4X4 for a used 2021 Gladiator Willys and could not be happier. Both are daily driven. Both are trucks. Both get 22 mpg combined with me driving. Both have a replacement cost of 55k. However, that is where the similarities end. The Silverado with the 2.7t tows more, and has a more comfortable, quite ride. The bed is bigger, the interior is bigger. It has everything to make your life cozy while driving. And it is boring to drive. I might as well have gotten a Prius, or Camery to drive. Even my wife said "Whoopy Dink! BORING!" when I asked her about the ride. Besides, Gladiator has solid front axle, a bed you can get into without a ladder, a removable top, and doors. The Silverado has latte expresso skinny jean man bun, man purse horse crap jumbo tron on the dash with a message that pops up saying "Keep your attention on the road. " When I got the Silverado, I had to call NASA to unlock the radio from demo mode. That was the start of the end for me with GM. Never again. I will run the gladiator into the ground. Screw GM, and screw all over priced nonsese. Just give me a truck I can work. I do not need mall rated GM products.
