Gladiator (JT) Rubicon - Winch Install ?

Looking at a Smittybilt 98612 XRC GEN3 12000 lbs Winch Competition Style with Synthetic Rope & Hawse Fairlead, have the standard Rubicon Steel Bumper.

What do I need besides the Winch for install, I keep reading about different plates being needed, is there a specific plate that is needed for the Smittybilt 12k winch?

You'll need a winch plate, it doesn't come with one from the factory. You can order the Mopar one, Warn also makes one....I'm sure a few more companies do as well.

Mopar, warn( my favorite) ,artec industries , I believe fishbone off-road, rugged ridge ( no beauty plate).
Your front bumper has the holes all cutout under the middle plastic beauty plate but unfortunately , no oem winch plate… gah.

I got the OEM winch plate from @AllMoparParts.com and the Maximus 3 winch mout ONLY, only because I ordered the plate first. I would have been fine using their kit: https://maximus-3.com/home/jl-winch-mount-kit

I don't see the winch mount only, which makes sense, as the kit would have saved time and money.

This winch mount is a stronger, better designed tray than the in-box mount I got with the eBay knock off steel bumper. My buddy who does metal work liked it, gave it a two thumbs up.

I decided to off-set the controller to the side to get more clearance for the cables, the grill panel is REAL tight for the Smittybilt winch. The included hoop bar had to go, as a result.

I have it on mine. It's robust and not a bad install. I'm running a Warn 12k and Mopar steel bumper. Went with the Factor 55 Flatlink E as well.

Also consider some sort of a cut-off or solenoid for the winch. So that you don’t have live wires always present at the front bumper (in case of a collision).
